Tonight’s short DFS slate of four games brings a good mix of big spreads and big totals and with a few impactful starting guards and LeBron James questionable for tonight, make sure you’re checking back in around game time to see if these impact players are going to suit up. While eating all of that amazing Halloween candy, make sure you set your DFS lineups with some of tonight’s DFS NBA Starting-5.
PG: James Harden: Harden is under 10k on FanDuel and DraftKings and he brings a lot of safety being that we don’t have many options to choose from. Harden was struggling to score until last game when he put up 29 points. He shot 45.5 percent from the floor (his best shooting game of the season) and even though the pace works against the Nets, Harden should take between 16-20 shots tonight. Harden is a five-category producer and he’s grabbed 7.2 boards and dished 8 dimes per outing. Harden has posted a steal in every game this season and he’s blocked a shot in his last four contests. The Nets are double-digit favorites but Harden has not played under 30 minutes in a game this season. He sits there with 28 percent usage producing 1.29 fantasy points per minute. We just need the shots to fall.
SG: Jalen Green: Kevin Porter Jr. isn’t 100 percent and the Lakers are bottom 10 in the league versus shooting guards and both of these teams rank in the top four in pace of play. Green has taken at least 16 shots in each of his last three games and even though he hasn’t shot well in his last couple of games, the shots will still be there and he will spend his time evenly attacking the rim and shooting from the arc. He nearly matches Christian Wood in shot attempts per battle. Green grabs nearly four rebounds and he swipes one ball per game. The Rockets and Lakers are two of the poorest defensive teams and the Lakers let up over 115 points per contest. He’ll provide a few cheap dimes as an added bonus dishing at least three dimes in three of five contests.
SF: Pat Connaughton: After originally having Khris Middleton in the S5, let’s pivot to one of the cheaper Bucks options. Connaughton is scoring 11 points per game and is shooting over 48 percent from the floor. He’s a better shooter than Allen and Connaughton also plays more minutes and grabs more rebounds. He’s actually coming off of a 10-rebound game and he’s stolen the ball in his last 3 contests. He’ll once again hit the 30-minute mark and we should expect him to take 10-15 shots in this game. Connaughton will flex to multiple positions on the court and that will give him more avenues to stay in the game and produce. He’s got a bit of an easier match up than Allen. Jordan Nwora is also in play tonight as well but he’s not nearly as a good of a shooter as Connaughton is either.
PF: Miles Bridges: The Hornets leading scorer and shot-taker is in another strong match up against the Blazers who struggle against forwards. Bridges has scored 25.5 points and has been shooting nearly 51 percent from the field. He’s grabbed eight boards per outing and he’s produced four multi-steal games in six games this year. His emergence has made a huge impact and the offensive plans have become a lot more centered around him. Bridges has taken 21 or more shots in 4 of his last 5 games. Bridges isn’t married to the arc and he’ll drive to the basket with the ball. Portland and Charlotte are both top-five in pace and the sports book total on the game is in the 230’s. The pace will work in the Hornets favor a bit, as the Blazers are the fastest team in the league. Even with Terry Rozier looking like he’ll be making his return to action, Bridges is the Hornets most dynamic frontcourt player.
C Jusuf Nurkic: Going to the other side of the match up, the Hornets still struggle to stop inside scoring and Nurkic is in a strong match up. The Blazers have been in a few blowouts lately and Nurkic’s minutes have been limited, but with the spread being a point and a half, the books are telling us that this expected high-scoring affair will come down to the wire. Nurkic grabs 12.2 boards per outing and has blocked a shot in his last 2 games. He’s grabbed five steals total in his last two games as well. Nurkic’s offense has been a little up and down and if the Blazers are smart, they’ll look to feed him in the post early and often. Nurkic has scored 14-plus actual points in his last 2 contests. As I stated before, it’s a short slate and both of these teams play at a very quick pace and Nurkic should see nine to 13 shots tonight and we can also expect him to play close to 30 minutes this evening.
