NBA DFS Showdown Playbook Tonight on DraftKings & FanDuel: Memphis Grizzlies vs. Phoenix Suns
We’ve got a great featured showdown on tap tonight as the Memphis Grizzlies take on the Phoenix Suns in what should be an elite fantasy environment. Memphis enters the matchup playing at the second-fastest pace in the league after leading the NBA in that category last season, while Phoenix ranks near the bottom in defensive efficiency. That’s a recipe for plenty of fantasy production, my friends.
The Suns could get a boost with Jalen Green potentially making his debut, while Dillon Brooks has officially been ruled out. On the Memphis side, several key contributors remain sidelined and have yet to play this season, with Santi Aldama and Vince Williams both listed as questionable.
Let’s dive into the breakdown!

DFS Captain / MVP Picks
Ja Morant, MEMÂ
(DK CPT - $15,600, UTIL - $10,400 / FD CPT - $20,700, UTIL - $13,800)
Morant was excellent on opening night but has struggled to replicate that level of production over his last three outings. Still, he’s always capable of erupting for 40+ points and adding double-digit assists, giving him the highest ceiling on the slate. He draws a great matchup tonight against one of the weakest defensive units in the league, putting him in prime position to be the optimal captain.Â
Devin Booker, PHXÂ
(DK CPT - $15,300, UTIL - $10,200 / FD CPT - $22,800, UTIL - $15,200)
Booker is averaging 36.3 minutes per game to open the season, posting 28.5 points on a strong 29.1% usage rate. He’ll remain the focal point of the Suns’ offense even if Jalen Green is able to make his debut tonight. Booker is coming off a monster performance in the team’s overtime loss to Utah, where he piled up more than 60 fantasy points. He and Ja Morant are essentially in a dead heat as the top candidates to land in the optimal captain spot.
Jaren Jackson, MEMÂ
(DK CPT - $14,100, UTIL - $9,400 / FD CPT - $18,600, UTIL - $12,400)
We have yet to see a true ceiling performance from Jaren Jackson this season, but the upside is certainly there. His path to the optimal captain spot likely comes through a 30-point, 10-rebound double-double supplemented by a handful of stocks – and that outcome is well within his range of possibilities.Â

DFS Utility Picks
Jalen Green, PHXÂ
(DK CPT - $11,100, UTIL - $7,400 / FD CPT - $14,100, UTIL - $9,400)
We have yet to see Jalen Green suit up for the Suns this regular season, but that could change tonight with the guard listed as questionable. If he’s cleared to play, it’ll be important to monitor any reports of a potential minutes restriction. Green should immediately step into a high-usage role as the clear number-two option in the offense behind Booker.
Grayson Allen, PHX
(DK CPT - $10,800, UTIL - $7,200 / FD CPT - $12,000, UTIL - $8,000)
Allen has been a steady contributor for the Suns to start the season, averaging 17.5 points per game. The potential return of Jalen Green could trim his offensive volume slightly, but Allen should remain heavily involved with a consistent 30+ minute role. He also provides some value in the peripheral stat categories, keeping him relevant even if his scoring takes a minor hit.
Royce O'Neale, PHXÂ
(DK CPT - $9,300, UTIL - $6,200 / FD CPT - $8,700, UTIL - $5,800)
O’Neale is coming off what was likely the best fantasy performance of his career in the overtime loss to Utah, posting 17 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals. While it’s highly unlikely he replicates that kind of stat line, he remains reasonably priced for a player who should start again for the injured Dillon Brooks.Â
Cedric Coward, MEMÂ
(DK CPT - $9,000, UTIL - $6,000 / FD CPT - $7,800, UTIL - $5,200)
With the Memphis backcourt extremely banged up, Coward has been a bit of a savior for the Grizzlies’ depth. The rookie has impressed as an offensive spark off the bench, providing much-needed energy and scoring punch. He should maintain his role in the rotation even if Vince Williams is able to return for this game.
Collin Gillespie, PHXÂ
(DK CPT - $6,300, UTIL - $4,200 / FD CPT - $6,900, UTIL - $4,600)
Like O’Neale, Gillespie posted a stat line last game that he’s unlikely to replicate tonight – and perhaps not again in his career. Still, he should maintain his role as the backup point guard and could even see some minutes alongside Devin Booker. Even if Jalen Green makes his debut, Gillespie still has a clear path to 20+ minutes in the rotation.
