DFS Captain / MVP Picks

Luka Doncic, LAL

(DK $13,200 / FD $17,400)

Coming off a 28-point season opener, Luka should command the usage as the Lakers’ primary offensive engine, giving him a strong floor through multiple statistical categories. His ability to contribute across points, assists, and rebounds makes him a compelling candidate for the top lineup spot, especially if the game remains competitive and he sees 35-plus minutes. The main concerns are turnovers, shooting efficiency, and potential defensive pressure from the Clippers.

Austin Reaves, LAL

(DK $10,000 / FD $12,600)

After posting 23 points, four rebounds, six assists, two steals, and a block in the season opener, Reaves showed his ability to produce across multiple categories, making him an attractive option. The main risk is that Luka dominates and Reaves falls short of expectations, but he has proven he can deliver big fantasy scores alongside Luka plenty of times.

Darius Garland, LAC

(DK $9,600 / FD $11,800)

Garland could shoulder an increased scoring and playmaking burden, giving him a high ceiling in a matchup where the Clippers need his offensive creation and playmaking ability. His perimeter scoring, off-the-dribble attack, and assist-generating ability make him an attractive play. If the Clippers keep this game closer than the spread suggests, or even pull off the upset, Garland was likely the primary reason.

Walker Kessler, LAL

(DK $8,200 / FD $13,000)

Kessler offers strong upside through rebounding, shot-blocking, and efficient rim scoring. After an impressive Lakers debut against Golden State, in which he recorded 26 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks in 30 minutes, Kessler enters this matchup with significant upside as Luka's pick-and-roll partner and primary interior finisher. He had plenty of easy finishes at the rim in the opener and should see more of the same in this matchup.

DFS Utility Picks

Rui Hachimura, LAC

(DK 7,800 / FD $6,000)

Hachimura played 32 minutes in the season opener from the starting lineup, finishing with 10 points, eight rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block despite struggling with his shot. His ability to contribute rebounds, three-pointers, and defensive stats gives him useful fantasy upside, though his limited playmaking and inconsistent shooting add volatility.

Keaton Wagler, LAC

(DK $7,400 / FD $7,000)

Wagler was impressive in his NBA debut, delivering 15 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals in 29 minutes during the Clippers’ season-opening win over Sacramento. The fifth overall pick has an opportunity to contribute as a secondary ball-handler and perimeter scorer with Beal and Ingram sidelined. The rookie could be inconsistent in shot-making and production, but overall he looks like a high-upside play.

Kris Dunn, LAC

(DK $4,400 / FD $4,600)

Dunn recorded seven points, five rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and two blocks in 27 minutes during the Clippers’ season-opening win over Sacramento, showcasing the fantasy upside his defensive activity can provide. He started the opener, and he should maintain a meaningful role even if the Clippers decide to shake things up. His ability to contribute across multiple categories keeps him in play even if he isn't a primary scoring option.

Brook Lopez, LAC

(DK $6,000 / FD $5,200)

Lopez opened the season with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and one assist, playing 27 minutes off the bench against Sacramento. Jackson started and played just 15 minutes, but he could get more run if he limits fouls or has a productive night. That makes Lopez a risky option, though one with significant upside if he gets a role similar to the opener.
