For a second straight night we get to see the Los Angeles Clippers as they are on the back-end of two consecutive games with tonight’s opponent being the Phoenix Suns. Things will be different for the Clippers as they will be a little deeper tonight with a fresh Kawhi Leonard and John Wall available. The problem with Leonard though, is that he is priced as if he is not on a minute restriction (21 minutes on Thursday) or did not come off the bench to begin the season. It figures to be a close game as Las Vegas has the Suns (1-1), led by Devin Booker, installed as one a point favorite over the 2-0 Clippers. Let us take a look at some NBA DFS Showdown Slate options to end your night in the green.

Phoenix Suns Injuries

MVP/Captain

Devin Booker (PG/SG)

It is early in the season, but there might be some logic in going against the team coming off a game the night before and giving Booker the slight edge here. Based on his talent and upside, it is not like Booker needs much help and that has been evident through the first two games of the season with the guard picking up right where he left of. Booker is averaging 30.5 points with two strong games (28 and 33 points, respectively) along with 6.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Paul George (SG)

Rolling with George in this spot last night was the ticket to victory, so there is no harm in looking for a repeat performance tonight. After a slow start to the season (if you want to call 15 points and 10 rebounds slow) while making just four of 12 shots from the field, George really got going last night. Granted Leonard and Wall were resting, but George truly carried the Clippers to victory with a 40 point, six rebound, and six assist effort. George was quite busy making 16 of 31 shots from the field and while his value should see a little bit of a dip tonight, he is still an elite option.

Utility

Deandre Ayton (C)

Whether or not Ayton truly wanted to be back in Phoenix, that is where he begins the season, and you would not notice any issues based on his performance. While Ayton does lack upside compared to other options, he does perform at a high level and also brings consistency to the table. In the first two games of the season, he is averaging eight rebounds per game, but the center has been more involved offensively with games of 18 and 26 points.

John Wall (PG)

The pressure is off of Wall with the Clippers, and Thursday he was able to just come off the bench and worry about scoring. Facing the opposition’s second unit should serve to benefit Wall as it did on Thursday. To begin the season, Wall made seven of 15 shots for 15 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists in what should be a customary performance for the veteran who does come with more upside than most in this price range.

Chris Paul (PG)

The veteran has not had much involvement from a scoring perspective to begin the season, especially in the first game with just six points on one of six shooting, but he did rebound to at least get to double-digits (10 points) on Friday. Paul has picked right up where he left off from a playmaking standpoint though with nine and 12 assists respectively. We know that Paul is going to get a lot of run tonight, and an off day still means at least 30 to 35 DFS points on most nights and he has more upside than most. If you have multiple lineups tonight, you are going to at least want some exposure here.

Mikal Bridges (SF)

The fact that the Suns are limited at the small forward position works well here tonight with Johnson likely out and Shamet not 100% and potentially making his season debut after missing the first two games. Bridges has picked up right where he left off this season filling the stat sheet as he is averaging 13 points, nine rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game while also playing 39 minutes per night which gives him ample opportunity to rack up the DFS production.

Dart-Throws

Damion Lee (SG)

Lee has been a large part of the Suns’ game plan over the first two games of the season (20 and 31 minutes) and the playing time should be there again tonight. To begin his career with Phoenix, Lee is averaging 9.5 points, four rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Lee has offensive upside and can get hot in a hurry as evidenced by his five of nine shooting from behind the arc.

Robert Covington (PF/C)

It is hard to truly get a read on the rotation in Los Angeles with Leonard and Wall working their way in and the former not playing a full load, but Covington will have a role as a front court back-up. He can do a little bit of everything and to begin the game is averaging five points and 5.5 rebounds per game along with two assists.

With minutes in their rotation to fill tonight, it would not be surprising to see the Clippers look Mann’s way more than they did on Thursday. Of course, anything would be more than the five minutes that he played as Mann did not even take a shot. We saw some big games out of Mann last season, so while this is a pretty large GPP dart throw considering the one game sample size we have, the upside is there.
