Top Tier Core Plays

Domantas Sabonis, C, Sacramento Kings

There really is no reason to not play Somantas Sabonis on this slate tonight. He is priced at just 10K on DraftKings even though he has gone over 5x that in value in eight of his last 10 games. The guy is just a double-double machine and has a triple-double upside every single night. In fact, in the last matchup against Phoenix, he finished with a 21-10-11 triple-double. To me Sbaonis should be priced near 11K.

Devin Booker, PG/SG, Phoenix Suns

Part of that same game with Sabonis Devin Booker also has a solid price tonight. He doesnt have quite the floor Sabonis has, but the ceiling is there, especially in a game that should be high scoring. Booker is also coming off back-to-back games in which he has scored 32 game points, and taken over 20 shots. He is the 1B to Durant on this team, but I like his matchup better tonight, against the Kings backcourt.

Jayson Tatum, SF/PF, Boston Celtics

Jayson Tatum has been on fire as of late. He has two great matchups against the Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards but he even did it against the Miami Heat as well. Tatum has scored at least 58 fantasy points in three of his past four games while taking at least 20 shots in five straight games. he also has dished out at least seven assists in his last four games, and eight rebounds. Plus, Kristaps Porzingis could be out tonight, and that just puts more of the offense on Tatum's shoulders if he can't go.

Mid-Tier Core Plays

Bam Adebayo, C, Miami Heat

No Jimmy Butler tonight, and no Terry Rozier, and Bam Adebayo is still only priced at $8,300. Something is wrong with that picture. He just becomes more aggressive with Jimmy off the court. Adebayo's points per game go from 19 to 22 and his attempts go from 14.5 to 16 in those 15 games. The Bucks are on the second night of a back-to-back and could have tired legs. Plus, in the last game against the Bucks he finished with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Play him tonight in a good matchup against the Bucks.

De'Aaron Fox, PG, Sacramento Kings

De'Aaron Fox's price is too low sitting at just 8K. I get it that he has struggled as of late only scoring over 20 game points in two of his last six games. However, he still has a 50-60 fantasy point ceiling, especially in a great game environment like tonight's matchup against the Suns. Also, in the last matchup against the Suns, he went off for 33 game points and dished out six assists for 51 fantasy points. Fox just needs to start knocking down shots again.

Jerami Grant, SF/PF, Portland Trail Blazers

This game has the lowest game total on the slate, so you do not want a ton of pieces from it. However, with Malcolm Brogdon, and Shaedon Sharpe out tonight the shots will be there for Jerami Grant. Plus he has played over 40 minutes in back-to-back games. You can also never count on counting stats from Grant, but he has even done that as of late. He has dished out at least four assists in three straight games and five rebounds in back-to-back games.

Cade Cunningham, PG, Detroit Pistons

Cade is back to being a full go for the Piston after playing 35 and 39 minutes in back-to-back games. He has a good matchup against the Lakers, and the Pistons have been more competitive as of late. Cade Cunningham is putting up numbers even with struggling from distance going just 2-8 from downtown in those two games. The Lakers do not have a great matchup for Cade, and his price is just too good to pass up sitting at under 8K.

Tyler Herro, SG, Miami Heat

I already mentioned above that Terry Rozier and Jimmy Butler are both out tonight and Tyler Herro is still priced like they are playing. He is under 7K on DraftKings and is coming off two straight games where he has gone over 35 fantasy points. It's a great matchup against the Bucks who struggle to defend the perimeter, plus he went for 51 fantasy points in the last matchup against the Bucks.

Malik Monk, PG/SG, Sacramento Kings

We want to keep attacking this game with it having the highest game total on the slate. Malik Monk is priced at just $5,800 on DraftKings and I can't figure out why his price is so low. He has scored at least 18 game points in six straight games and has scored 40 fantasy points in four of six games. Play him in a great game environment against the Suns tonight.

Value Tier Core Plays

Al Horford, C, Boston Celtics

If Kristaps Porzingis is out tonight, Al Horford is a pretty solid play at the center position tonight. In the 12 games that KP has missed Horford is averaging 30 minutes a night and averages just under 10-8. His fantasy points per minute increase from 1.74 to 1.91 without him this season as well. Play him tonight if KP is ruled out.

Update: Porzingis has been ruled out. Horford is locked in for me, and Luke Kornet is worth a dart throw.

Ausar Thompson, SF/PF, Detroit Pistons

Why can't Monty Williams just play Ausar Thompson 30 minutes a night? I get it he can not score, but he is so active on both ends of the court when he is out there. He is averaging just under 10 points and seven rebounds in his last five games has grabbed at least two steals in four of his past six and is in the starting lineup.

Simone Fontecchio, SF/PF, Detroit Pistons

If you are looking for a different piece of the Pistons outside of Cade and Ausar, can I interest you in Simone Fontecchio? Fontecchio played 32 minutes in his debut and took 19 shots, and went 3-9 from downtown. That was not something I expected to see, but he seems to be a key piece to this team moving forward. With him sitting at just $4,700 on DraftKings and can get up close to 20 shots, I am in.

Rui Hachimura, SF/PF, Los Angeles Lakers

It looks like the Lakers are locked in with Rui Hachimura in the closing lineup. He has played 37 and 38 minutes in his last game. However, in those two games we have also seen the peaks and valleys with him scoring 31 fantasy points and 8.5 fantasy points. It is a very good matchup against the Pistons tonight who have one of the worst defenses in the NBA, and I expect him to hit value tonight.

Jaime Jaquez, SF/PF, Miami Heat

Jaime Jaquez is back in the starting lineup with Jimmy Butler out. However, he hasn't faired well for fantasy purposes as of late scoring just 11 and 12 fantasy points in his last two games. But we have also seen Jaquez be awesome at some points throughout this season when he has had the opportunity. He has scored over 30 fantasy points multiple times. Tonight is the perfect time for a bounceback against a bad Bucks defense on the second night of a back-to-back.
