Jakob Poeltl Chalkboard NBA Pick: Lower 8.5 Points + Assists
Poeltl's role has shrunk in Toronto's new-look rotation. He's averaging just 2.8 points and 0.5 assists in 19.5 minutes per game, and he's stayed under this line in all four games with 3, 8, 0, and 2 points plus assists.
Foul trouble has limited him, too. Poeltl is averaging 3.8 personal fouls, and he played only 10 minutes in Wednesday's 129-99 win over Orlando after picking up five fouls. Toronto's offense runs through its perimeter players, and Poeltl has taken fewer than two shots per game.
The Raptors host the same Magic team they just beat by 30, and Orlando is again without Paolo Banchero. Toronto is a 5.5-point favorite with the league's best defense at 95.4 points allowed per 100 possessions, per ESPN's Hollinger team stats. Kawhi Leonard is out, which is the main risk if it opens up touches inside, but Poeltl hasn't cleared this number once. Poeltl at Lower 8.5 points plus assists leads our Chalkboard NBA picks and is one of the best NBA picks today.
Caleb Wilson Chalkboard NBA Pick: Higher 17.5 Points
Wilson has been a bright spot in a 1-4 Bulls start. The rookie has scored 16, 21, 30, 17 and 20 points, averaging 20.8 on 18.4 shots per game, and he tied Michael Jordan for a Bulls rookie scoring milestone in Wednesday's loss to the Knicks.
Boston is a 15.5-point favorite and won Monday's meeting by 35, but Wilson still scored 17 in that game. Chicago plays at the fastest pace in the league, and the 231.5 total gives him room. Wilson at Higher 17.5 points rounds out our Chalkboard NBA picks.
