NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 10/30
Our NBA best bets for Friday are the Wizards +1.5 against Charlotte, the Lakers -3.5 at Golden State, and Nuggets vs. Suns Over 231.5. On the prop side, we're featuring Jakob Poeltl Under 8.5 points plus assists and Ausar Thompson Over 3.5 assists, with more player props listed below. Lines have been moving all day, so shop around before you bet.
Hornets vs. Wizards Prediction: Friday, 10/30
Pick: Wizards +1.5
DraftKings has the Wizards as 1.5-point home underdogs, and this line has bounced back and forth between the two teams all day, with Washington favored at some books. That tells us the market sees a coin flip, and the money has leaned heavily toward the Wizards, so we'll gladly take the points at home.
The Wizards are 2-3, but they're getting healthier. Rookie AJ Dybantsa made his debut Wednesday after missing the first four games with an ankle sprain, and Trae Young and Anthony Davis give Washington the two best players on the floor. According to ESPN's Hollinger team stats, the Wizards score 108.5 points per 100 possessions to Charlotte's 102.1, while both teams allow 109.6.
Washington has also won 13 straight home games against Charlotte following a loss. Wizards +1.5 is our first of Friday's NBA best bets.
Lakers vs. Warriors Prediction: Friday, 10/30
Pick: Lakers -3.5
The Lakers have the most efficient offense in the NBA at 125.2 points per 100 possessions, and they're facing a Golden State defense that ranks third-worst at 119.2. That's the biggest efficiency mismatch on Friday's board.
Los Angeles is 4-1 and already beat the Warriors 127-105 in the opener, when Luka Doncic scored 28 in three quarters, and Walker Kessler went 12-for-12. Golden State is 2-3.
DraftKings has the Lakers at -3.5, up from -1.5 earlier in the day, so the market is moving our way, and we expect the efficiency gap to show up again. Lakers -3.5 is our second side among today's NBA best bets.
Nuggets vs. Suns Prediction: Friday, 10/30
Pick: Over 231.5
Both defenses are struggling. Phoenix allows 119.8 points per 100 possessions, the worst mark in the league, and Denver allows 116.8, fifth-worst.
Denver is a 4.5-point favorite after briefly dipping to -4, and the Nuggets have the offensive firepower to exploit the league's worst defense. We expect a high-scoring night in the desert. Over 231.5 rounds out our game picks among Friday's NBA best bets.
Best NBA Prop Bets & Other Picks Today, 10/30
Jakob Poeltl Under 8.5 Points + Assists
Poeltl has posted 3, 8, 0, and 2 points plus assists in four games, averaging 2.8 points and 0.5 assists in 19.5 minutes. He's averaging 3.8 fouls and played only 10 minutes against Orlando on Wednesday.
The Raptors host the same Magic team they beat by 30, and Orlando is without Paolo Banchero. Kawhi Leonard's absence is the risk, but Poeltl hasn't cleared this number once.
Ausar Thompson Over 3.5 Assists
Thompson is averaging 5.0 assists in 26.8 minutes and has cleared this line in three of four games, including a season-high eight assists against Charlotte on Wednesday. J.B. Bickerstaff said in the offseason that Detroit wants him to become a playmaker, and the numbers show it.
Brooklyn is 0-4 and allows 115.6 points per 100 possessions, and with Jalen Duren still out, the Pistons need their wings to create. His only miss came when foul trouble limited him in New York.
More player props we like on Friday's slate:
- Alperen Sengun Over 5.5 Assists: Sengun is averaging 7.0 assists for unbeaten Houston but is questionable with a back injury, so confirm he's active.
- Caleb Wilson Over 17.5 Points: Wilson is averaging 20.8 points in 34.6 minutes and scored 17 in Boston on Monday, even in a 35-point loss.
- Matisse Thybulle Over 1.5 Three-Pointers: Thybulle is averaging 2.4 made threes on 50.0% shooting and hit four on Wednesday, and he faces a Warriors defense that ranks third-worst in efficiency.
