There’s been big news for NASCAR already this week with the announcement of the Chicago street course race next year. That also follows a great race at New Hampshire that saw Christopher Bell become the 14th driver in the Cup Series to get a win in the 2022 NASCAR season. The 21st race of the season happens on Sunday at Pocono Raceway with the M&Ms Fan Appreciation 400.

Weather For Long Pond Pennsylvania
Temps in the Poconos this weekend will be pretty seasonal, sitting in the upper-80s. That being said though, there is a decent chance of rain on Sunday afternoon, right in the middle of the race window. That’s typical with the patch of land Pocono sits on though. Weather can crop up without warning, just ask Chris Buescher about the fog bank that won him his first Cup series race several years ago.

Pocono Raceway Track Layout
Easily the most interesting track layout among the “ovals” on the schedule. Why are ovals in quotes? Well, Pocono isn’t an oval but it’s not a road course either. It’s known as the Tricky Triangle, because, well, it is a triangle. That’s right it only has three turns but has a third straight away. That makes the setup here different than a lot of “ovals” on the schedule. The three corners were made to pay homage to two three different tracks that pre-date Pocono. Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Milwaukee Mile, and Trenton Speedway serve as the basis for the corners. The front stretch at Pocono is the longest straight on the schedule while the Long Pond Straight, between turns 1 and 2, is the second-longest. Pocono, along with Indianapolis Motor Speedway — in its oval configuration — are the two longest, non-plate-track layouts on the schedule at 2.5 miles in length.
