Happy Wednesday, y’all. We have baseball all night long and MLB games that have even swapped times because of incoming rain. We’re not going to let ANYTHING get in our way tonight, though, as we search far and wide for the best possible player props and Underdog Fantasy plays being offered to us. Let's dive in!
Top MLB Underdog Player Props
OVER 5.5 Strikeouts
Luis Severino has looked really sharp over two starts this year, allowing just two earned runs over nine innings. His first start only spanned three innings and 65 pitches, but he still struck out five batters. Severino's second start was nearly 20 pitches more, and he pitched five shutout innings and struck out six.
He faces a Tigers team that hasn’t fared well against right-handed pitching this year, notching a .555 OPS (which ranks 29th in MLB) and a 24.3% K-rate (which is the 10th highest mark in the game). With Severino’s pitch count likely approaching the 90s here, we should feel comfortable with him pitching deep enough into this game to hit the over here.
Back in 2018, which was the last time we saw Severino on the mound for an entire season, he notched a K-rate up over 28%. He’s done that multiple times as a full-time starter and he has elite strikeout stuff at his best.
OVER 7.5 Fantasy Points
I don’t think it’s a secret that Carlos Correa has not gotten off to a good start for his new team. He’s hitting below the “Mendoza Line” and has just one home run. That being said, Correa has always feasted off left-handed pitching and unless Daniel Lynch started throwing right-handed overnight – that’s what he gets here.
Correa’s OPS is actually above .800 this year against southpaws and since 2018, he’s only failed to reach that mark once. In fact, he has an OPS of .855 for his career vs. LHP.
On the flip side of this match-up, Daniel Lynch has been blitzed this season. Righties are batting .375 with a .418 wOBA and have already hit three home runs off of him in five innings. If you were looking for a light at the end of the tunnel, however, last season was much of the same for Lynch. He allowed a .313/.389/.500 slash along with a .381 wOBA to righties in 2021.
