Welcome to another Sunday of baseball! After today, we will be down to the final two weeks of the season, so let’s make sure to take advantage of the full slates while we can and build some winning MLB DFS lineups. We have a 10-game main slate on DraftKings kicking off at 1:35 PM EST with the FanDuel slate starting at the same time, but is an 11-game slate with the inclusion of the San Francisco Giants vs Colorado Rockies game in Coors Field. Today’s slate is highlighted by a handful of top arms between Brandon Woodruff, Framber Valdez, Charlie Morton, Sonny Gray and Jesus Luzardo. My favorites of that group to target are Brandon Woodruff and Sonny Gray, but we have some great value pitchers to target as well. On the offensive side, some of my favorite lineups to target include the Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays, and Cleveland Guardians. There are plenty of different ways to go about building a winning MLB DFS lineup today, so let’s dive into some of my favorite value options of the day!
MLB DFS Value Pitchers
Carlos Rodon hasn’t had the best season so far since returning from the IL, but I give him a bit of a pass, having missed so much of the season and coming back from injury. I still believe in Rodon’s upside to be one of the best pitchers in the game, and he looked solid in his last outing against the Boston Red Sox, striking out 9 through 5 innings while only giving up 1 run. I trust him to have another solid outing with great strikeout potential today against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Jose Quintana doesn’t have the strikeout upside that Carlos Rodon has, but he has a very solid floor. He has been a super stable pitcher for the Mets and should be able to handle the Cincinnati Reds (outside of Cincinnati) just fine. I personally would play both of these value plays today, but if you are going with one of the top arms, you can choose whether you want to pair them with the upside of Rodon or the stability of Quintana.
MLB DFS Value Hitters
Dominic Smith has never been able to put it together at the plate since his monster breakout back in the shortened 2020 season. Hopefully, he can find some more production with the Washington Nationals. He is having a great September with 3 homers in his last 9 games with a .387/.412/.806 slash line. It is a bit of a risk having to face Brandon Woodruff today, but I like the possible payoff for the price he comes in at today.
Andres Gimenez has had a bit of a disappointing season at the plate, though the fantasy value is still there, with him providing plenty of speed with 28 steals and some light power with 13 homers. He has been stacking up some more hits lately, batting .333 in September through 13 games, and in a solid matchup today against the lefty Martin Perez, he provides some great value.
It has been a tough season for the Yankees, but they have a solid young core starting to take over, with Oswald Peraza hoping to be a big part of the future of the Yankees. He has a hit in 10 of his last 11 games and has slashed .356/.356/.533 over that stretch, and with this hot stretch and what is been a slowly improving Yankees offense, he should be able to provide some solid value today getting to face Andre Jackson and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Ceddanne Rafaela is more of a glove-first prospect who provides incredible defense, but lately, he has been proving that he might be able to provide some great offense for the Red Sox along with his elite defense. In his first 16 games with them, he has slashed .357/.386/.595 and has the potential to provide some decent speed and power as well.
