Today’s MLB DFS coverage is for the 4-game main slate that starts at 7:07 pm ET on DraftKings and 5-games slate that starts at 6:05 pm ET on FanDuel. FD is using the Detroit Tigers vs. Philadelphia Phillies game (the rest of the slate is the same). We do not have Coors Field on the slate, so you don’t have to worry about that when setting lineups. Starting pitching is headlined by Spencer Strider. We don’t have any mlb weather concerns today, which always makes for a more enjoyable experience, especially on a small slate like this. Jon is on the playbook today, make sure to give that a read, and don’t forget to check out the MLB Lineups page, Vegas Odds, and all of our MLB DFS Tools. Let’s dive into some of my favorite value options of the day and some we can fit into our cash and tournament lineups!

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Reid Detmers, Los Angeles Angels (DraftKings: $6,500 / FanDuel: $7,100)

Detmers has been a total bust this year and can’t seem to put together a good outing, but the options are limited on a small slate and he does have upside as evidenced by the fact he has 60 Ks across 50.2 innings of work. The Cubs are averaging two runs per game over their last three games and 2.33 runs per game over their last nine games, so this is a sputtering offence right now that Detmers could take advantage of.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Andres Gimenez, 2B, Cleveland Guardians (DraftKings: $3,500 / FanDuel: $2,600)

Gimenez has massive reverse splits this season, slashing .322/.412/.475 against lefties (good for an absurd .886 OPS), compared to .208/.258/.302 against righties. He has been hitting a bit better lately too, hitting .297 over his last 10 games with a .766 OPS. Today he faces a terrible lefty in Matt Dermody, who is 32-years old and has a 5.60 ERA and 1.39 WHIP through 27.1 career major league innings.

Trea Turner, SS, Philadelphia Phillies (FanDuel: $3,000)

Turner is only available to be used on FD today, but I do love this spot for him. He scored 0 last game, but in the game before that, he racked up 50.1 FD points with a pair of dingers and four total hits. He is having a down year, but he does still have 7 home runs and 8 stolen bases, so he has flashed some DFS upside, despite the lousy .240 average. The Tigers are sending a lefty in Tyler Holton to the mound and Turner has a .718 OPS against southpaws this year, compared to .657 against righties.

Jo Adell, OF, Los Angeles Angels (DraftKings: $2,500 / FanDuel: $2,500)

Adell has always been bad at the MLB level and I wouldn’t be shocked to see more of the same, but he does have some pop and could provide us with a cheap home run tonight. He had a .958 OPS with 18 home runs at AAA, despite continuing to rack up a ton of strikeouts. He faces Drew Smyly, who has struggled a bit recently with 8 runs against over his last 10.1 innings. I wouldn’t use Adell in cash games, but he is a punt GPP option.
