We have a 10-game MLB DFS main slate on Monday, July 17th, and it’s jam-packed with elite names such as Jesus Luzardo, Shane McClanahan, Shohei Ohtani, and Mookie Betts. In order to afford one or a couple of them, you’ll need to dive into the vault of the MLB DFS value play section. That’s where this article comes in. Be sure to check out all of our tools including the MLB Lineups page, MLB DFS Projections – powered by FanJections –, MLB DFS Ownership, and all of our tools HERE! Let’s dive into our favorite daily fantasy baseball value plays of the day.

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Quinn Priester, Pittsburgh Pirates (DraftKings - $7,000, FanDuel - $6,800)

The Pirates are calling up their top pitching prospect, Quinn Priester, ahead of Monday’s game as he’s facing the Cleveland Guardians. Priester’s been about a strikeout-per-inning guy at the minor league level since being drafted in the first round of the 2019 draft. Cleveland has been a bottom-10 offense in OPS and wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Priester has been an average pitcher at the Triple-A level this year, but there’s a reason why Baseball America and Major League Baseball both have him listed as a top-100 prospect.

Matt Manning, Detroit Tigers (DraftKings - $6,800, FanDuel - $8,500)

The last time we saw Manning take the mound he was a part of something special as he and the relievers after him threw a combined no-hitter against the Toronto Blue Jays. This time, Manning doesn’t actually face a very potent offense as he matches up against the Kansas City Royals. The Royals have the fifth-highest K-rate in the league against righties, ranking 28th in OPS and 30th in wOBA. Manning has been pretty good over the last two seasons pitching to a 3.43 ERA through 12 starts in 2022 and sits at 3.72 in ‘23. It’s a solid spot and price tag for Manning.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Mickey Moniak, Los Angeles Angels (DraftKings - $3,800, FanDuel - $3,200)

It’s been an incredible resurgence for Moniak this year, the former number one overall pick, as he’s found a home in Los Angeles. He’s hitting in the middle of the Angels lineup and has been dominant against right-handed pitching. He’s posted a .355 ISO, which is .001% BETTER than Shohei Ohtani, and has a .450 wOBA against right-handed pitching, also better than Ohtani. Any number that you have that you can say is “better than Ohtani” is very eye-opening and should be recognized.

Kerry Carpenter, Detroit Tigers (DraftKings - $3,200, FanDuel - $2,900)

The thing we’ve known about Jordan Lyles all along is he is no stranger to allowing a few home runs every so often. He allowed 38 home runs in 2021, 26 in ‘22, and has served up 20 through 17 starts this year. Left-handed hitters have a robust .258 ISO and .363 wOBA this year. Lyles has allowed a career-worst 49% flyball rate to boot. Insert Kerry Carpenter, the Tigers best power bat this year. He’s been really solid all year long posting a .537 SLG% and has 11 home runs through 50 games. Carpenter has a .272 ISO, .861 OPS, and .363 wOBA against right-handed pitching this year and is live to go yard.

Wilmer Flores, San Francisco Giants (DraftKings - $3,200, FanDuel - $2,700)

He’s shown up a lot in value vaults I’ve done recently but can you blame me? He’s faced a lot of lefties lately! He’s crushing lefties to the tune of a .315/.357/.500 slash line along with a .185 ISO and .370 wOBA. He faces off against southpaw Brandon Williamson and faces him in Great American Ballpark, which is one of the best hitting environments in the league. Williamson has been touched up by right-handed bats allowing a .247 ISO and .350 wOBA.
