Let’s dive into our favorite daily fantasy baseball value plays of the day.

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Tarik Skubal, Detroit Tigers (DraftKings - $7,500, FanDuel - $8,800)

Lefties have given the Red Sox absolute FITS since the All-Star break as they have a 27.6% K-rate, the fourth-highest in the league, and they’re also 27th in OPS and wOBA as well. Insert lefty Tarik Skubal who has looked quite good outside of one bad start against Kansas City. He’s struck out 33 batters in 27 innings and has three 20+ DKP in three of his six starts. He’s beginning to be more stretched out as he threw as a season-high 88 pitches his last time out. Skubal’s a fantastic price point on DraftKings in this spot.

Cristopher Sanchez, Philadelphia Phillies (DraftKings - $7,200, FanDuel - $8,600)

Lefties have given the Minnesota Twins issues from the outset of the season as they’ve notched a 25.1% K-rate, which is tied for fifth in baseball while ranking 27th in OPS and 28th in wOBA. Before Sanchez’s last start, he had posted a 2.66 ERA and held opponents to a .202 AVG along with a 56.5% ground ball rate. Sanchez has a decent amount of strikeout upside as well, notching a 23.3% K-rate this year. I like Sanchez as an SP2 today.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Tyler O’Neill, St. Louis Cardinals (DraftKings - $3,700, FanDuel - $2,600)

This is a fantastic spot for the Cardinals here considering Angel Zerpa is coming in as the bulk reliever for the Royals. Through Zerpa’s 2023 stops, righties have a .303 AVG with a .546 SLG% and .915 OPS against him. O’Neill’s had a solid second half notching a .855 OPS, .228 ISO, and .369 wOBA. O’Neill has a .839 OPS, .182 ISO, and .367 wOBA against left-handed pitching this season. O’Neill’s a fantastic value.

Ke’Bryan Hayes, Pittsburgh Pirates (DraftKings - $3,400, FanDuel - $2,800)

It’s now been three straight games in which Hayes has shown up with multiple hits and three runs batted in. Because of his recent performances, Pittsburgh has him leading off on Friday. He’s had a decent campaign against left-handed pitching, notching a .174 ISO and .315 wOBA. Andrew Abbott has struggled against righties allowing a .193 ISO and a .316 wOBA this season and the cracks in his armor have definitely been showing in his past few starts.

Brice Turang, Milwaukee Brewers (DraftKings - $3,000, FanDuel - $2,400)

It’s been a fantastic start to the month of August for Turang as he’s flashing .407/.500/.630 with a .222 ISO, and .483 wOBA. In those nine games, he’s homered twice and stolen two bags as well. Over his last 30 days, Turang has a .167 ISO and a .367 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. He faces off against Michael Kopech who’s allowed a .222 ISO and a .344 wOBA to left-handed hitters. Turang has multi-position eligibility as well, just as an added bonus.

Michael Massey, Kansas City Royals (DraftKings - $3,000, FanDuel - $2,400)

It’s been mainly in the power department, but Massey has been really good since the All-Star break. Since the break, he has a .512 SLG%, .280 ISO, and a .336 wOBA. All 10 of his homers this year have come against righties. Over the last 30 days, which comes out to a 77 plate appearance sample, Massey has a .310 ISO and a .353 wOBA against righties. He faces Adam Wainwright and we’ve seen how bad he’s been this year. He’s been especially bad against lefty swingers allowing a .304 ISO and .491 wOBA.
