Happy Monday! Today we have a 7-game main slate on both FanDuel and DraftKings that is set to kick off at 7:07 PM EST. Spencer Strider is arguably the only true ace pitching on today’s slate. It is an interesting slate with most of the best offenses (New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays) facing the best pitchers of the slate, so you can choose to go with the top dogs against good pitchers, attack the worse pitchers of the slate, or do a combination of the two. Whichever way you go, some value plays will help give you the flexibility to build a strong lineup, so let’s dive into some of my favorite value options of the day!

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Chris Bassitt, Toronto Blue Jays (DraftKings: $8,000 / FanDuel: $8,500)

Chris Bassitt continues to be a reliable pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays. He had a terrible first outing of the season against the St. Louis Cardinals, but since has put up 3 straight quality starts, the last one coming against Houston, where he only gave up 3 hits and 0 runs. He gets to face the White Sox today, who have been a middling offense this season. While Bassitt isn’t ever going to be a flashy pick, you should be able to trust him to go 6 innings with a handful of strikeouts and a good chance at a win. I would rank him as the third-best starter on the slate after Spencer Strider and Sonny Gray, but you get him for cheaper than the third-best starter.

Jose Suarez, Los Angeles Angels (DraftKings: $5,800 / FanDuel: $5,800)

I must give a caveat that this is probably the riskiest value play I have put out this season. There are not many positive things I can say about Suarez’s season thus far. However, there are probably even fewer positive things I could say about the Oakland Athletics thus far. He is the cheapest pitcher on FanDuel and the second cheapest on DraftKings. While Jose Suarez has not looked great so far, I do still believe he has upside as a 25-year-old who was actually fairly good through 109 innings last year. There is a ton of risk with this pick, but at the price, I am willing to take the risk against the Oakland Athletics.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Vinnie Pasquantino, 1B Kansas City Royals (DraftKings: $3,500 / FanDuel: $2,900)

We’ve got a rare lefty-lefty matchup that I am targeting as a value play. Vinnie Pasquantino has been awesome this year and has arguably been the best hitter on the Kansas City Royals. He doesn’t have much of a split as a lefty, as he is able to hit both sides of the plate. Tommy Henry is probably the worst pitcher on this slate and, so far in his career, has reverse splits with lefties hitting .371/.421/.629 against him, albeit in a small sample. Kansas City’s offense has been quite bad, but I love Vinnie as a value play in this matchup.

Jorge Polanco, 2B Minnesota Twins (DraftKings: $3,900 / FanDuel: $2,600)

Jorge Polanco is back in the lineup and in his first three games, he has 5 hits, with a double and a home run. With a decent matchup facing Jhony Brito of the New York Yankees, Polanco should keep up his hot start, he has an .832 OPS against right-handers last year. His price seems to be too low still since his return from his knee injury, but he looks healthy and strong, so I am ready to jump in at this price.

Corbin Carroll, OF Arizona Diamondbacks (DraftKings: $4,200 / FanDuel: $3,400)

If you haven’t noticed, Corbin Carroll is legit. We knew the ceiling was sky-high for Carroll coming into the league this year, but he continues to deliver. He already has 4 homers and 8 stolen bases to go along with his .280 average. The power speed threat that he provides is amazing and I am not sure how much longer he will be consistently available for under $5,000. He gets a decent matchup today against Brad Keller, who isn’t bad but can still get beat up. I think Carroll is my most expensive value play today, but at his price, the upside is still quite large.

Jake McCarthy, OF Arizona Diamondbacks (DraftKings: $4,600 / FanDuel: $2,900)

Jake McCarthy has not been legit this year. He has been struggling quite a bit at the plate but did just hit a home run last night. The Diamondbacks have the second-highest implied runs for the day, right behind the Los Angeles Angels against Ken Waldichuk in what I already highlighted as a decent matchup against Brad Keller. I am going to hope that yesterday was McCarthy breaking out of his slump, and am taking a second lefty diamondback outfielder as my final value play. He is also much cheaper than Carroll, so doesn’t have to do as much to return the value at his price.
