Chris Paddack Underdog MLB Pick: Higher Than 31.5 Fantasy Points

I’m sure you are looking over Paddack’s seasonal stats right now and wondering how on Earth I’m recommending him here today but, as with everything, it’s all about perception vs. reality. Yes, the reality of Paddack’s season is that he has a 5.26 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP. These are not good numbers at all. 

However, if you look into some of the underlying data, you will see that there are signs of him actually pitching better than his numbers would suggest. On the season, Paddack’s 5.26 ERA is matched with a 4.21 xERA, 4.17 FIP, 3.83 xFIP and 3.81 SIERA. These are all sabermetric statistics and indicators of how he is actually pitching. Add to it that Paddack has a K/9 of 8.4 and a BB/9 of just 1.94 and things aren’t all that bad. 

Today, he faces a Rockies team that away from Coors Field this season ranks 22nd in wOBA, 23rd in ISO and has the fourth-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching at 26.0%.

 

 

 

Erick Fedde Underdog MLB Pick: Higher Than 6.0 Strikeouts

Aye, the Seattle Mariners are on the slate, so we go and see who is pitching against them and then click the higher button on their strikeout projection. It’s been a rinse and repeat method that has paid off way more often than it hasn’t this season and today’s starter du jour is White Sox righty Erick Fedde.

Fedde has had a breakout season in 2024 after pitching in the KBO last year, going 4-1 to start the year with a 3.27 ERA and a K/9 of 8.84. We need just six strikeouts today out of Fedde which is a mark he has reached in four of his last five starts and as we’ve mentioned, the Mariners have the highest strikeout rate in baseball against right-handed pitching this season.
