Shohei Ohtani Underdog MLB Pick - Higher Than 0.5 Runs Scored

I like Ohtani at the dish tonight, but some of the other lines are quite inflated, which has me looking at his runs scored line. We’ll sacrifice a bit on the multiplier, but if you want to take a swing at the 1.5 total bases or Ohtani to hit a home run, be my guest!

Ohtani will lead off for the Dodgers against Max Scherzer, who was solid in his lone postseason start nearly two weeks ago. However, he allowed seven base runners (3 hits and 4 walks), and left-handed hitters accounted for six of them! In the regular season, he served up a 5.91 ERA on the road, a 2.45 HR/9 to left-handed hitters, and a 5.27 FIP versus lefties on the road!

At the dish, Ohtani has been far better at home than on the road during the postseason, and the numbers aren’t particularly close:

  • Home: .280/.357/.960, .680 ISO
  • Away: .167/.310/.292, .000 ISO

George Springer Underdog MLB Pick - Higher Than 0.5 Hits

I do really like Tyler Glasnow tonight, but George Springer will find a way to get a base knock off the L.A. righty this evening. Springer has a .982 OPS against right-handed pitching this postseason, and as good as Glasnow has been in October, he does have a 1.67 WHIP against right-handed hitters. Walks have particularly hurt him, but Glasnow’s repertoire lines up well for Springer.

Glasnow relies on three pitches primarily against righties, which are his sinker, slider, and four-seamer. In the regular season and thus far in the postseason, Springer has posted a .471 wOBA, .358 wOBA, and .473 wOBA against those three pitches, respectively (vs. right-handed sinkers, sliders, and four-seamers).

Springer has recorded a hit in all but three postseason games thus far, including hitting safely in each of his last three.
