Jameson Taillon Underdog MLB Pick - Higher Than 11.5 Pitching Outs

Taillon went 4 IP in his postseason debut, and I’m banking on him doing at least that here in a win-or-go-home spot. Sure, Chicago might have him on a relatively short leash, but Taillon is in a great spot to be effective.

He closed out the regular season with a 1.57 ERA across his final 34.1 IP, and he finds himself on the better side of his home/road splits. He posted a 3.05 ERA at home this season, and it’s phenomenal pitching weather at Wrigley Field today (~10mph winds blowing in, sub-60 degrees). Per FanGraphs, in six starts this year at Wrigley Field, where the wind was blowing in, Taillon posted a 2.65 ERA and 0.82 WHIP.

Lastly, yes, Milwaukee’s lineup is tough, but check out the team’s splits over the last 14 days:

  • Vs. LHP: .294/.333/.471, .346 wOBA, 127 wRC+

Like most of the starters today, Miller figures to be on a pretty short leash, but I don’t think it takes Detroit long to get to the Seattle righty. He pitched to a 5.68 ERA on the season, and he logged a 5.61 ERA and 2.10 HR/9 over his final five starts of the season.

He struggled on the road in 2025, posting a 5.56 ERA and 1.43 WHIP, and the weather sets up nicely for hitters this afternoon, especially lefties. It looks like a pretty steady wind will be blowing out to right-center, which isn’t ideal for Miller, who surrendered a .530 SLG, 19.2% HR/FB ratio, and 2.29 HR/9 to left-handed hitters this season.
