Gavin Williams Underdog MLB Pick'em — Higher 2.5 Walks

Gavin Williams has been one of the more dominant pitchers in the early 2026 season, posting a 2.04 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts through 17.2 innings. His 12.74 K/9 ranks among the best in baseball. He is allowing a .094 opponent batting average. The numbers are genuinely elite.

But the walks have never gone away. Williams carries a 7.13 BB/9 on the season, issuing 14 free passes through those same 17.2 innings. This is not a new issue. He led all of MLB with 83 walks in 2025. The walks are structural. They are part of how he pitches, a product of a big arsenal with big stuff and a command profile that, at its worst, creates traffic on the bases. Even in his best 2026 outing, he walked three batters in seven innings against the Dodgers. In his worst, he walked six in five against the Mariners.
