Let’s count on Imanaga posting another solid start against the Phillies, who have struggled a ton against left-handed pitching. The Philadelphia lineup has just a .176 batting average vs. lefties thus far (28th in MLB), as well as a .260 wOBA (26th) and .537 OPS (27th) in the split. Even on the road, this is a favorable matchup for Imanaga. 

As for the Cubs’ starter, he’s now sporting a 2.81 ERA and 2.25 FIP this season. He had a similar hot start last year, posting a 2.54 ERA over his first 13 outings before some late-season struggles. Imanaga can take advantage of a Phillies offense that’s been much better against right-handers.

Spencer Arrighetti is getting the call from Triple-A to make today’s start for the Houston Astros, replacing the injured Tatsuya Imai in the rotation. The right-handed Arrighetti draws a favorable matchup right away. He can pile up strikeouts at home against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night. 

Arrighetti was dominant in his brief stint in the minors, posting a 1.26 ERA with 20 strikeouts over 14.1 innings (3 outings). That's a promising sign for a pitcher who had some ups and downs last season following an early injury. Now he faces a Colorado lineup that has struggled against right-handed pitching, with a 26.4% strikeout rate in those matchups (29th in MLB). On the road vs. righties, that mark is even higher at 29.0%. 

While command has been an issue at times, Arrighetti’s ability to miss bats stands out. During his 2024 rookie campaign, he recorded a 27.1% strikeout rate and averaged close to 6 strikeouts per start. He was even more effective at home, with a 28.0% strikeout rate and 6.4 K’s per outing. Against a Rockies lineup that rarely draws walks against righties, his control concerns should be less of a factor in this spot.
