This is feeling like a great spot for Atlanta Braves lefty Max Fried as he toes the rubber against the Detroit Tigers. Fried has been strong for Atlanta this season, going 6-3 with a 3.20 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP while striking out 70 over 78.2 innings.

We’ve seen Fried pitch deep into games this season, throwing two complete games on the year while pitching into the seventh inning in nearly half of his starts. Pitching deep into games means more opportunities to score fantasy points. Today he faces a Tigers team that ranks 26th in wOBA, 25th in ISO and 20th in batting average against left-handed pitching.

 

 

 

James Paxton MLB Pick: More Than 3.5 Earned Runs

Paxton has been one of the luckier pitchers in baseball this season with the Dodgers lefty currently 6-1 with a 3.92 ERA despite the fact that he has just a 5.28 K/9 and owns a BB/9 of 4.83. His xERA is 5.06 and his xFIP is 5.44. All of these numbers suggest big regression is coming and we saw some of that in his outing against the Pirates when he didn’t get out of the second inning before giving up seven runs (six earned).

He then managed to again work around his inefficiencies against the Rangers as he allowed just one run over six innings despite a 5.85 xFIP for the game. Now in Coors, I’m going with the “demon” projection of 3.5 earned runs allowed for Paxton today. If there was ever a venue for his luck to run out, Coors Field would be it.
