Nick Castellanos, Philadelphia Phillies

Castellanos didn't have a great start to the 2024 MLB season, batting a lowly .193 in April with an OPS of just .521. But things have changed in May. Over the past two weeks, he's batting .277 with an OPS of .865. Even more recently – the last six games – Castellanos is hitting .348 with an OPS of 1.184.

This is great timing as he steps into the box against Mets southpaw Sean Manaea. Castellanos is a notorious lefty killer, and he is even 5-for-8 with two homers and a double off of Manaea in their limited matchups.

On the surface, Manaea has some decent numbers, but a deeper dive tells a different picture as he owns a 4.8 BB/9 and an xFIP of 4.96. Let's look for Castellanos to stay hot against a pitcher that is due for regression and one he has great history against.

 

 

 

Mitch Keller, Pittsburgh Pirates

We just saw this matchup a few starts ago for Keller only that start was at home against the Brewers and in that outing Keller allowed four runs on six hits over five innings while striking out seven. 

He followed that start with another poor performance against the Oakland A’s before tossing a complete game in his most recent start against the Angels. So, now we have Keller facing the Brewers again only this time on the road and this is a Brewers offense that hammers right-handed pitching, ranking second in team batting average, sixth in ISO and second in wOBA.

Keller has a 4.41 ERA on the season, but his expected ERA is at 4.66. His K/9 is almost 2.0 K/9 lower than last season and his BB/9 are up. Going to go with Keller getting knocked around by the Brewers offense this evening.
