MLB weather is playing a big part when it comes to the decision-making process for tonight's MLB PrizePicks board. Finding out which of the MLB top player props to build my tickets around has had me going back and forth to the MLB lineups page to see where the betting edge in tonight's action is. That said, with the remaining games that are on the board for tonight's MLB slate I have isolated a few key matchups that we should be looking to take advantage of!

PrizePicks Top Plays

Logan Gilbert Over 5.5 Strikeouts

This was the first play on the card for me tonight. The Rays as a team have the seventh-highest strikeout rate against RHP this season, sitting at 24.9-percent. They run up against a pitcher in Logan Gilbert who has a 24.8-percent strikeout rate on the season and struck out seven Rays when he faced this same team two starts ago. Gilbert is averaging nearly a strikeout per inning this season and last year he had 128 strikeouts over 119.1 innings. The strikeout upside is definitely there and this is the matchup we will look for him to take advantage of it.

Luis García Over 5.5 Strikeouts

Another strikeout prop we are targeting tonight comes with Houstons matchup against Detroit. The Tigers have a 24.2-percent strikeout rate against RHP this season and over the last seven days that number is even higher at 28.0-percent. They face Astros right Luis García tonight who has gone over this total in two of the last three starts he has made with this matchup tonight being his easiest opponent by far, having faced the Blue Jays twice and Angels once over the last three outings. Let's see him attack this weak Tigers lineup here tonight.

Chad Kuhl Over 17.5 Outs

Who would have thought that in the year 2022 we would be looking at Chad Kuhl and betting on him? That's what the lack of offense around the league due to the “dead ball” has created. Pitchers that in the past we would have been chomping at the bit to stack against are now pitchers we want to have on our side. Kuhl has pitched at least six-inning in three straight starts and Arizona has really struggled against RHP this season, boasting a league-high 26.7-percent strikeout rate with just a .193 average and a .291 wOBA. This game is being played outside of Coors Field as well which should be a little bit of a bonus here as well with Arizona also using the humidor.
