There are four games on the MLB slate tonight kicking off at 6:40pm ET. With the limited slate size there are only a few MLB player props over on the PrizePicks MLB board that I have my eye on as we target two elite starting pitchers in matchups against teams that boast some of the highest strikeout rates in baseball to start the season. So let's get to today's MLB PrizePicks player props top plays!

PrizePicks MLB Top Plays

Corbin Burnes Over 6.5 Strikeouts

Burnes hurt a lot of feelings in his opening day start as he was shelled by the Cubs and lasted just five innings while throwing only 83 pitches. Tonight he draws a Baltimore Orioles team that has a league-high 30.9-percent strikeout rate. I'm going to trust that the 2021 NL Cy Young Award winner will have himself a bounce-back start tonight and pile up the strikeouts against a very strikeout prone lineup.

Gerrit Cole Over 6.0 Strikeouts

I know the idea of pitching against the Toronto Blue Jays lineup is a bit worrisome but their bats have been held in check over the first two games of this series against New York with both Jameson Taillon and Nestor Cortes really limiting this Blue Jays lineup. Taillon in his start racked up six strikeouts over 5.0 innings while Cortes had five strikeouts over 4.1 innings. The Blue Jays as a team currently have a 26.2-percent strikeout rate on the season which is the fifth-highest rate in baseball.  Cole is still a high-volume strikeout pitcher and I'd be willing to bet that he too bounces back after a tough opening start to his season.

Wander Franco Over 1.5 Hits+BB

In truth, I wish they gave us his total bases here instead of H+BB but we take what we can get so I have a slight lean on the over on this total here tonight. Franco is off to a fantastic start to his season, hitting .550 with an OPS of 1.345 on the season. Let's look for him to keep the hot streak going tonight against Frankie Montas who allowed five runs on six hits over five innings in his opening start of the season against the Phillies.
