PrizePicks Top Plays
Eric Lauer Over 6.0 Strikeouts
One of the chalkier plays of the day is today's matchup for Lauer against the Chicago Cubs. In the first meeting between these two teams, we saw Lauer strike out 11 Cubs. Chicago is missing some of the better bats against left-handed pitching tonight and while Lauer has only managed a total of six strikeouts over the last two starts he also faced the Nationals and Cardinals who rank 28th and 30th in strikeout rate against LHP this season. The Cubs on the other hand have the seventh-highest strikeout rate against LHP this season. We saw southpaw Aaron Ashby for the Brewers finish with 12 strikeouts against the Cubs last night.
Cristian Javier Over 6.0 Strikeouts
Javier has finished with nine strikeouts in each of his last two starts and his season K/9 sits at 11.68 with a 33.1-percent strikeout rate. Tonight he faces an Oakland A's lineup that has the ninth-highest strikeout rate against RHP pitching this season at 24.1-percent. They also have a league-worst batting average and wOBA against righties as well. I'm banking on yet another dominant performance from Javier tonight in this matchup.
Blake Snell Over 2.5 Runs Allowed
Snell has one of the more extreme home/road splits in baseball dating back to last season. In 2021 he posted a 6.12 ERA on the road compared to a 2.50 ERA at home. In half of his road starts last season he allowed at least three earned runs. Moving forward to this season he has made two starts, allowing three earned runs in both of those outings. Tonight he is on the road and facing a Cardinals offense that leads the league with a .362 wOBA and an OPS of .824 against left-handed pitching this season.
