Happy Memorial Day!  We have plenty of MLB action on tap for today's slate but before we look forward to Week 8 let's take a quick look back at the top fantasy baseball plays from Sunday's slate. Make sure to check out the fantasy baseball waiver wire claims for the upcoming week, check over the MLB injury reports to see what the latest injuries are, and find out if any more MLB prospects will be getting the call.  Be on the lookout for the updated fantasy baseball player rankings for June. Before we close out the week however let's take a look at some of the top performances from Saturday and highlight my favorite MLB Best Bets and player props for Sunday's games!

Corbin Burnes Shuts Down Tough Cardinals Lineup

The top pitching performance of the day has to go to Brewers “Ace” and reigning N.L. Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes as he faced a Cardinals team that had been doing some damage of late. Burnes went out and tossed seven innings of two-hit baseball while striking out 11. Burnes lowered his ERA to 1.95 on the season to go with his sparkling 0.82 WHIP. He now has 78 strikeouts over 64.2 innings. Burnes has allowed no more than one earned run in four of his last five starts.

MacKenzie Gore Showing He Belongs

The Padres have moved Gore in and out of the rotation but he's now started two straight games and has been dominant in both outings, allowing just one run over 13 innings while striking out 15. On Sunday he tossed seven innings of two-hit baseball while striking out nine. Overall this season he is now 3-1 with a 1.71 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP while having struck out 47 over 42.0 innings. I see no reason the Padres should consider him as a reliever again this season even as their rotation gets healthy. It's pretty clear that Gore belongs at the top of a big-league rotation.

Red Sox Offense Hits Five Home Runs

After a slow start to the season the Red Sox offense is heating up and on Sunday they launched five home runs. They finished with a 12-2 win over the Orioles and this comes after putting up 16 runs on the White Sox twice during the team's prior series. The offense is led by the top of their lineup with J.D. Martinez, Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts all hitting well over .300 with .900+ OPS. On Sunday we saw home runs hit from Devers (11), Kiké Hernández (4), Bobby Dalbec (3), Franchy Cordero (2) and Christian Arroyo (3).

Monday MLB Best Bets

Zac Gallen Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-150 DraftKings Sportsbook)

Until the Atlanta Braves prove to me they are not going to strike out at a league-high clip I am going to continue to attack strikeout props against them with pitchers that I deem to be “elite”. Gallen certainly falls into that category of top-tier pitchers in my mind with this season bringing just one drawback and that would actually happen to be his strikeout rate. Over the first three seasons of his career we saw Gallen post a K/9 over 10.0 yet this season his K/9 sits at just 8.7. A K/9 of 8.7 is good enough given today's matchup against a Braves team that has a 31.1-percent strikeout rate against right-handed pitching over the past two weeks.

Framber Valdez Over 18.5 Outs (-105 DraftKings Sportsbook)

A real head-scratcher for me on this one. Valdez has thrown at least seven innings in three straight games which would get us the over that we are looking at for today's prop total. He is facing an A's roster that ranks in the bottom third against left-handed pitching in both batting average and wOBA while boasting the eighth-highest strikeout rate. Even more encouraging here is the pitch counts for Valdez, as the Astros have allowed him to throw no less than 96 pitches in any of his last five starts. Unless he really gets into trouble today in a matchup that he shouldn't I am liking this one a lot.

JD Martinez Over 1.5 Hits (+135 DraftKings Sportsbook)

Martinez has registered at least two hits in 11 of the last 16 games played. He had two hits on Sunday against Baltimore and the man is hitting .508 with an OPS of 1.293 during this 16-game stretch. Baltimore is sending righty Tyler Wells to the mound today. On the season Martinez is hitting .366 with an OPS of 1.014 against RHP while RHH have gotten the better of Wells this season as well, hitting .281 off of him. We are getting plus-odds on the league's hottest hitter to get two hits today.
