For 6-straight years Elvis Andrus has stolen at least 21 bases. He is the only shortstop in baseball in that club. Moreover, only one other man at any position can match that - Rajai Davis 

Mookie Betts has no chance to live up to expectations. He hit a home run on Opening Day.

Kris Bryant has no chance to live up to expectations. Period. 

Josh Collmenter owns a 3.42 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over the course of 516 innings. 

R.A. Dickey wins games, at least 14 each of the past three seasons. Only six men have done that: Adam Wainwright, Zack Greinke, Lance Lynn, Max Scherzer, Clayton Kershaw and Dickey. His total of 48 victories in that time is tied for the 5th most in baseball.  

Eric Hosmer had a .321 batting average and .509 SLG after July 1st. 

Drew Hutchison allowed one run in six innings to the Yankees Monday. He's got a big arm that led to 184 strikeouts in 184.2 innings last season. A year further removed from surgery, his WHIP was 1.26 last year but what held him back was the 4.48 ERA. He could improve all three numbers this season. 

Kyle Kendrick allowed no runs over seven innings for the Rockies. I don't want a single question about whether anyone should add him.

Kyle Lohse, the last four seasons, has thrown 796.1 innings with a 3.28 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 1.82 BB/9 mark. How many hurlers in baseball can match all four of those numbers??? Just two: Lohse and Jordan Zimmermann.

Leonys Martin has 30 steals and 65 runs scored the past two seasons. The only others to have done that: Jacoby Ellsbury, Carlos Gomez, Starling Marte. 

Devin Mesoraco will fail to live up to expectations.

Shelby Miller has been working on a sinker that he honed when Justin Masterson showed up in town showing Miller a new way to grip the ball (Masterson being one of the best sinker ballers in all of baseball). Is it a coincidence that Miller posted an ERA of 2.08 over his final seven starts after learning the new grip.

Dustin Pedroia is back? Little man is blasting away with two homers on Opening Day. Cole Hamels looked lost in the outing allowing four homers. The only other time that happened was April 23rd, 2010. 

If Gregory Polanco played 150 games at the level he did as a rookie he would hit 12 homers, score 84 times and swipe 24 bases... and that was him being "bad." How many outfielders went 12-84-24 last season? One - Carlos Gomez. 

David Price struggled a bit in spring. The games count, Price produces. Price threw 8.2 shutout innings against the Twins Monday. Joe Nathan came in for the cheapest save you pretty much will ever see. He got one out with two men on base in the Tigers 4-0 victory.

Michael Saunders will be out for at least a few more weeks as he continues to recover from knee surgery. So much for him being ready for Opening Day as people around the team tried to convince us was possible three weeks back. 

In 2014 George Springer had 295 ABs w/ 108 of them ending on a fastball. His batting average in the other 187 ABs was .187.

Masahiro Tanaka is in trouble. Been saying it all offseason. He failed to last five innings Monday allowing five earned runs. Twice in his big league career he's failed to last five innings. Those two outings are his last two starts. His arm is going to go - #UCLWoes. 

Devin Travis became the 4th rookie in Blue Jays history to hit a homer in his first big league game. He's a 10/10 talent who will be hitting at the bottom end of the Jays lineup. Think Ben Zobrist numbers for Travis if everything goes right. Still a pretty high bar though. 


Adam Wainwright allowed zero runs in his first start. The last two seasons he's won at least 19 games with an ERA under 2.95.
