Spring Training Stats (for whatever they are worth)

  • Freddie Freeman leads ST with 7 HR’s after hitting two  on Wed passing Michael Morse & Dominick Brown

  • Some other young players flashing some power Yelich, Arenado, Baez, Hicks, Moustakas, & Brandon Belt

  • Lorenzo Cain who hit .275 with 7 HR and 10 SB No CS in 227 AB’s after returning from injury is hitting .474 in spring with 7 walks and only 2 K’s in 36 AB as of Wed

  • Andy Dirks 4 SB after only one last yr has 4 this spring 0 CS

  • Top strike out pitchers in order: Stras 26, Teherhan, Harvey, & Alex Cobb

  • Most walks: Minor 12 in 16 IP, Ogando, Gee, McDonald, and Fister (who has a spring ERA of 7.36)

How the pitchers above compare to Cole Hamels last season:

  • Medlen 2nd behind Cliff Lee with best K/bb rate 2nd half of 2012 (Hamels 11th best K/BB)

  • Top 5 in K% 2nd Half of 2012, in order, Scherzer, Darvish, Shields, Medlen, Sale with Hamels ranked 9th (all with Whips close to, or below, Hamels).
  • Top strike out pitchers for 2012 were in order: Scherzer, Darvish, and Gio (Hamels 8th)

  • If WAR does anything for you, Gio, Darvish, Sale, and Scherzer all had higher WAR then Hamels
