James Wood Chalkboard MLB Pick: OVER 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI

Wood is coming off back-to-back three-hit games, and over his last 10 games, he’s slashing .459/.600/1.081 with six home runs, 15 runs scored, and 13 RBI! He’s seeing the ball as well as anyone right now, and the matchup today is simply too good to ignore. The Washington outfielder has a 1.010 OPS against righties this year, a 1.040 OPS at home, and an even more impressive 1.108 OPS at home when facing a righty!

Today, Wood will take on New York right-hander Will Warren, who has a 6.21 ERA, 1.86 HR/9 and 5.48 FIP since the calendar flipped to June. Furthermore, his ERA sits at 4.50 on the road, and his issues with lefties on the year (.265 BAA, .335 wOBA) is quite notable. I love this matchup for Wood today, as Warren’s ERA and numbers have gotten worse with each passing month.

TJ Rumfield Chalkboard MLB Pick: OVER 0.5 Hits

Rumfield has hit safely in eight of his last 10 games, posting a .375/.487/.438 slash line during this run. He’s been nearly as productive on the road this year as he has been at home, and his .934 OPS and .225 ISO against RHP is key when looking at today’s matchup Trevor McDonald.

McDonald has been quite inconsistent of late, and he’s coming off his worst start of the year, allowing eight earned runs in just 2.1 IP against Toronto. Over his last five starts, he has a 7.97 ERA, and 4.87 FIP. While McDonald has been strong against right-handed hitters (.202 BAA, .244 wOBA), the same cannot be said for his work against lefties, as they have posted a .318 average, .512 SLG, and .392 wOBA against him.

We just need one hit from Rumfield today, and I like his chances to do so.
