Bobby Witt Chalkboard MLB Pick: Over 1.5 Total Bases
No one will confuse Witt as one of the hotter hitters in baseball of late, but I can’t ignore him in his home park today with very noticeable winds blowing out. Witt has a .447 SLG and .184 ISO at home this season, and his park has been an above-average venue for RHH in 2026. The matchup today is a big part of my affinity for Witt on Thursday, as Cleveland’s Slade Cecconi has struggled mightily this season. In particular, he’s struggled with right-handed hitters, surrendering a .606 SLG and 2.76 HR/9!
Witt may not be the hottest hitter on the planet of late, but I love the matchup today. Not only is he sporting a .447 SLG and .184 ISO at home this year, but there are going to be strong winds blowing out today at Kauffman Stadium. Slade Cecconi is going to the rubber for the Guardians, and he’s served up a .606 SLG, .420 wOBA, and 2.76 HR/9 to right-handed hitters this year!
Trust Witt in this matchup against Cecconi, who currently has the fourth-worst HR/9 (2.02) and fifth-worst FIP (5.83) amongst SPs with at least 30 IP.
Konnor Griffin Chalkboard MLB Pick: Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
Since turning 20, Griffin has been great for the Pirates, posting a .395 average, hitting safely in 10 of his last 12 games. Furthermore, he’s riding an eight-game hit streak! The young star has been great against right-handed pitching over his last 12 games, to the tune of a .400 average and 1.076 OPS!
Griffin’s recent success against righties is notable, given that Zac Gallen, a righty, will pitch for the Diamondbacks in this Thursday affair. The veteran is not off to the greatest of starts, and while his home numbers are solid, he’s pitched to reverse splits this season, allowing more contact than ever before. Righties have posted a .462 SLG and .371 wOBA off him, and Gallen has allowed an 83.8% contact rate on the year, which is the sixth-highest contact rate amongst starters with at least 30 IP!
I like this Pittsburgh offense today, and even though Griffin is near the bottom of the order, if he gets on base, the top of the lineup will surely drive him in.
