Our MLB best bets today feature the NLCS Game 1 showdown between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers. We’re gifted a fascinating pitching matchup to start this series, as Tarik Skubal faces Jacob Misiorowski tonight. Check out our MLB picks below, including some player props. Good luck!

Dodgers vs. Brewers Prediction: Sunday, October 11th

The baseball gods are smiling down on us for this NLCS Game 1. Two of the sport’s best starting pitchers will toe the rubber tonight. Tarik Skubal gets the ball for Los Angeles, while Jacob Misiorowski starts for Milwaukee. Instead of worrying about who wins, focus on the total for our MLB best bets today.

Let’s not overthink this. It’s Skubal vs. Misiorowski. That’s a back-to-back Cy Young winner on one side, and this year’s likely NL Cy Young honoree on the other. The total is low, but the under is still the bet. Let’s also grab the under for the first five innings and bank on a pitcher’s duel.

Misiorowski was absolutely dominant this season. The right-hander’s 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 252 strikeouts led the MLB. The Brewers’ ace was solid in Game 1 of the NLDS against the Padres, allowing two runs with six strikeouts over four innings. San Diego ran up his pitch count, resulting in an earlier exit than normal.

Entering this outing well-rested, Misiorowski last pitched over a week ago. He posted an elite 1.52 ERA at home this year, and gets to make this start in Milwaukee. The Dodgers have a dangerous lineup, but they were mostly held in check in the NLDS. The offense averaged 3.5 runs per game with just a .203 batting average in the series vs. Atlanta. Meanwhile, Misiorowski allowed only one run over six strong innings against LA in an August matchup.

On the other side, expect Skubal to do his thing as well. The left-hander was impressive in his NLDS Game 1 start against the Braves, allowing one run with seven strikeouts over six innings. Skubal posted a 2.72 ERA and 0.96 WHIP this season. He also had a 1.87 FIP across his final eight regular-season starts.

Skubal faced Milwaukee once as a member of the Dodgers. In that matchup, he allowed just one earned run with seven strikeouts over seven innings. The southpaw can have similar success today, as the Brewers have slightly worse offensive numbers against left-handed pitching. Skubal also has a 1.70 ERA on the road this year. Plus, Milwaukee didn’t do a ton of damage in the NLDS, averaging 3.3 runs per game.

All in all, the under is the way to go for this NLCS Game 1. Bank on Skubal and Misiorowski to show up on the biggest stage and give us a show. Plus, both the Dodgers and Brewers bullpens have been shut down this postseason, which will limit scoring in the later innings.
