Angels vs. Rays Predictions: Saturday, May 30th

As we look to turn the calendar to June here shortly, the Tampa Bay Rays are still in first place in the AL East! That's not something that many predicted but hats off to them and I like their favor to continue today against the visiting Los Angeles Angels, who are in dead last in the AL West and are 10-20 on the road this season. 

Drew Rasmussen will lead the way on the mound for the Rays today and that gives them an immediate leg up in the matchup. Rasmussen has been solid this month over four starts with an ERA of 2.96 and just 23 hits plus five walks allowed on 24.1 innings pitched. His opponent in the Angels have had serious issues putting the ball in play of late, with a strikeout rate of 24.2% over the past two weeks. Those kind of numbers work well with his slightly above league average whiff rate of 23.5% so his strikeout prop is firmly in play at 5.5 strikeouts. Rasmussen has topped that number in six of ten starts already this season, let's get there again!

On top of that prop, the Rays have been a wagon at home this season with a 20-5 overall record and the offense is in the top five in BABIP over the past couple of week at .322. They also rank 10th overall in isolated power so let's rock with the Rays every which way today to take care of business. 

Braves vs. Reds Predictions: Sunday, May 30th

This is one of the matchups I have circled on the slate today as the Braves and Reds have been two of the most enjoyable teams to watch so far this season. The Braves have the 3rd highest runs per game average this season and the Reds have been spicy over the past couple of weeks, let's get into this marquee matchup.

Brady Singer is what catches the eye here first as he's been dreadful in the month of May. Through four starts he is holding down a 8.47 ERA and has allowed 26 hits including nine home runs and 15 walks through just 17 innings pitched. Those numbers are brutal and its the left handed hitting that is crushing him in large part. Lefties are slashing him with a .385 average and 1.105 OPS on the season and 10 of his 14 homers given up have been against that side of the plate. Numbers like that will put bats like Michael Harris right onto the betting card for me as he's hitting .400 with a 1.103 OPS over the past week. Harris II will also bat second sandwiched between Ronald Acuna and Matt Olson so let's rock with his hits/runs/RBIs prop tonight and await the big stat night.
