Athletics vs. Twins Predictions: Friday, July 24th

Here we go into some brand new series matchups on this Friday and one of the first games that caught my attention was this game of the A's and Twins. There are two less than average pitchers on the mound today and it could lead to some fireworks on the diamond. 

Starting off with Zebby Matthews against this A's offense as a prime target. Matthews in his three starts in July has an ERA of 10.54 and has allowed 21 hits and nine walks over the course of 13.2 innings pitched. On top of all that hitters have a batting average of .362 against him and have hit four homers. Given these numbers I have to put some money behind Tyler Soderstrom tonight as he's been on a hot streak post All-Star break hitting .333 with a .968 OPS. He has hit the righties well this season too, so let's ride his over on Hits/Runs/RBIs.

The next wager comes on the game itself as the A's have poor pitching scheduled as well. Jacob Lopez will start tonight and the lefty has been getting shelled in July. Over his three starts he has an ERA of 6 and while the Twins have been slow out of the break, this looks like a slump buster sort of game. The game total is 9.5 across many books, let's take the over here.
