MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 8/27 Houston Astros vs. New York Yankees Prediction: Thursday, August 27th
The Houston Astros may be in first place in the AL West but this team is hot garbage right now. The front office is in shambles and the ownership group is the one that set the blaze to begin with. After losing 7 of their last 10 the Astros are now only a half game ahead of the Rangers for the division crown.
The main issue is the pitching right now as they've given up 31 runs over their last five games and with again face a Yankees team that is heating up with a isolated power mark of .186 over the past week of games. Put that together with facing off against Gerrit Cole who has a 1.82 ERA in the month of August and is allowing just a .209 OBA, you have a recipe for a New York win on the Money Line. Its a bit chalky in places but given the implied runs, this game shouldn't be very close so let's take the easy meat here.
On top of that wager Gerrit Cole is in line for a banner day against the Astros. Houston over the past seven games has a K-rate of 27.1%, the third highest mark in the majors during that span. Cole has 25 strikeouts over the course of his last 24.2 innings pitched so if he can go six innings as he has in the last three starts then he will go over his 5.5 strikeouts tonight.
