Happy Thursday here on the MLB Best Bets as we ride into the very last day of August on the the calendar! That means we have just one month remaining in what has been a wild ride of an MLB regular season but worry not there is still plenty of wagers to be had as we go down the stretch. MLB Best Bets for August 31

Atlanta Braves at Los Angeles Dodgers

Its a matchup of MLB giants tonight as the Braves visit the Dodgers to start a 4-game series on the west coast! No doubt there will be some top tier baseball to watch over the next few days between these two teams and I'd bet we see a fair amount of scoring. I say this because the Braves score 5.83 runs per game, the most in the MLB and the Dodgers score 5.66 runs per game which is the 2nd most in the league. You would think with those numbers the game total would be rather high but instead the sportsbooks have the line at just 8.5 runs for tonight and that's a head scratcher. I understand part of the reason is because Spencer Strider will start on the mound for the Braves but he has had some poor starts this season and the offense he is going against is top tier. On the other end Lance Lynn will pitch for the Dodgers with his 5.56 ERA and that is an opening to take an over. The model projects 9.95 runs in tonight's game too which is way over the total on the books so let's ride an over bet in this game.
