Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases
The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.
- Mickey Gasper, Boston Red Sox – 0% CS (12 att.)
- Ivan Herrera, St. Louis Cardinals – 0% CS (16 att.)

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:
Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Here are our top two MLB stolen base picks today for Saturday, June 27:
Favorite Bets:
Jake McCarthy, Colorado Rockies (+279)
What a fantastic time to get such a favorable matchup on the bases! McCarthy is currently riding a 10-game hit streak with five multi-hit performances and one stolen base. Now he gets to square off against Twins righthander Mike Paredes who is allowing lefthanded hitters to post a .307 wOBA against him over just 12.1 innings so the big-league experience isn’t quite there. But more importantly, neither is a catcher capable of throwing out baserunners. Victor Caratini ranks among the bottom-10 catchers in caught-stealing with a mark of just nine-percent over 32 attempts. When McCarthy gets on, he’s taking off.
Jeremy Pena, Houston Astros (+261)
Tigers left Framber Valdez is tied for allowing the most stolen bases on today’s slate, so even though it looks like Jake Rogers and his 25-percent caught stealing rate (Dillon Dingler’s is down at 17-percent) will be behind the plate, I like Pena to get some action on the bases. Valdez allows a .320 wOBA and .334 OBP to right-handed batters while Pena, who’s hit safely in four of his last five with three stolen bases in that span, is batting .303 with a .361 OBP against southpaws this season. He also happens to have a rock-solid sprint speed and an 89-percent success rate on steals.
