⚾ Top MLB Home Run Picks for Today

We won’t get to see another Judge vs. Trout matchup, but we will see the New York Yankees remain at home for their new series against the Kansas City Royals, which is certainly a factor to consider for both MLB home run picks and MLB expert picks overall. Other hitter-friendly ballparks like the home of the Washington Nationals are also in play.

Before we get too deep into why we’re targeting the players that we are for our best MLB home run picks today, if you just want to see the list ASAP, here’s who we’re looking at:

🔥 Best Matchups for Home Runs Today, 4/17: Ballpark Factors & Weather Impact

Along with ballpark factors are plenty of others to consider, like barrel rates, pitching matchups, and even our very own MLB weather report. With those things in mind, here’s why each of the guys above made the cut for our top MLB home run predictions today.

Ian Happ (+390)

Speaking of that MLB weather report, that’s going to be a factor with our first pick. It’s also the early afternoon game, so there’s no time to waste! It’s one at Wrigley Field, which is famous for its wind and should help our MLB home run picks. We see a total in the double digits, further suggesting plenty of runs.

We don’t have the worst pitchers on the mound, but the Cubs have been blasting recently. We just saw their series against the Philadelphia Phillies littered with runs (47 across the three games), including 11 by just Chicago yesterday. Nico Hoerner hit one in the leadoff spot, but we’re going to their cleanup man.

The switch hitter can get the best of Kodai Senga, so let’s start our MLB home run picks with Ian Happ to hit HR (+390 at Novig).

Matt Olson (+395)

Speaking of that recent Cubs vs. Phillies series, we’re going to head back to Philly for our next pick. After all, we just shared how many runs they allowed to Chicago, and the Braves have plenty of massive bats themselves. Their names are enough reason for focusing our MLB home run picks here, as is today’s starter for Philly.

Taijuan Walker has been shaky at best to start the season, allowing nine runs in the first inning of his three starts alone! Additionally, he allowed three homers to the Colorado Rockies two outings ago and another to the Arizona Diamondbacks in his most recent. Olson’s also a lefty that can crush this righty matchup.

Along with Citizens Bank Park being among the best hitter’s parks, we’re adding to our MLB home run picks with Matt Olson to hit a HR (+395 at DraftKings).

Ketel Marte (+330)

For this Blue Jays vs. Diamondbacks game, you could also go with Corbin Carroll here for even juicier odds. That would be a lefty on lefty crime, but with that being the case, we’re going to target Ketel Marte with our MLB home run picks instead. The lefty that the leadoff man will be facing is Eric Lauer for Toronto.

Marte is a consistent hitter against lefties with nine homers and a .516 slugging percentage against them last year, along with a career average of .305 and career slugging of .533! Those are much bigger sample sizes than we have for Carroll, and like the first two picks, Arizona has a very hitter-friendly ballpark.

We expect this to be a high-scoring game overall, so let’s continue adding to our MLB home run picks with Ketel Marte to hit a HR (+330 at FanDuel).

🚀 Longshot Home Run Picks Today

As incredible of payouts as you can get from the picks thus far, let’s hook you up with a nice bonus play. This one is going to be our favorite MLB home run longshot for today!

You already saw us target a Braves hitter against Philly today, so this one correlates nicely. While he’s not as well-known for homers as Matt Olson is, he’s more than capable of going yard. After all, he had two homers against Taijuan Walker last year in just nine at-bats! So, this is the longshot we’re adding to our best MLB home run picks today.
