Giants vs. Dodgers Predictions For Sunday Night Baseball, 6/15

Despite being divisional AND in-state rivals, this is actually the first Giants vs. Dodgers series that we’ve had this season. It comes off the back of LA winning a series over another California team - the San Diego Padres.

Along with being at home for this Sunday Night Baseball matchup, it's no surprise to see the Giants vs. Dodgers odds having Shohei Ohtani and company favored. That said, if San Francisco can find their way to an early lead, things bode well for them. That’s thanks to the fact that they have the absolute best bullpen ERA in the entire league.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers’ bullpen ERA is hovering over 4.00 at this point. Therefore, the Giants just need to hope that starter Kyle Harrison can just match LA starter Dustin May. However, Harrison being a lefty doesn’t exactly spell success, so it also plays a huge role in the best bet from our Giants vs. Dodgers predictions!

San Francisco Giants: Kyle Harrison’s Hands Are Full

So, why does being a lefty spell doom for San Fran starter Kyle Harrison? While the Giants bullpen may be elite, the southpaw has to face a star-studded lineup that has the second-best OPS against lefties this season. That’s par for the course as well, as LA finished last year with the absolute best.

Frankly, any starter no matter the arm they throw with has their hands full when it comes to Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and company, but it’s still worth pointing out. For what it’s worth, Harrison has also faced the Dodgers three times in his career. He’s 0-1 with a 3.52 ERA with the most recent outing being the loss (April of last year).

Los Angeles Dodgers: The Dustin May Rollercoaster

As for the starter we’ll see opposite Harrison, LA’s Dustin May is looking to have the best season possible after missing last year due to injury. It’s been an up-and-down one thus far as we’ve seen a streak of three starts with 8+ strikeouts recently while also seeing three straight losses.

His most recent outing was a loss to the Padres as well, so he’ll be looking to bounce back on Sunday Night Baseball. The Giants are a team that he’s performed well against for the most part, going 2-1 with a 1.62 ERA against them. Of course, having missed last year, they aren't the most recent results, and none of them included more than four strikeouts.

Giants vs. Dodgers Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines

As is virtually always the case with LA at home, they’re favored tonight, and you can see the latest Giants vs. Dodgers odds for Sunday Night Baseball below:

Giants vs. Dodgers Best Bet: Teoscar Hernandez Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105)

We’ve been harping on the Dodgers lineup ability of hitting lefties, and that theme continues with the best bet from our Giants vs. Dodgers predictions. With their star-studded lineups, the options of who to target are virtually endless, but rather than the ones we’ve already noted like Ohtani and Freeman, we see greater value elsewhere.

That’s with Teoscar Hernandez, who was the lone bright spot for LA to start this series, so we’re hoping he can do the same to close it out. Despite their series-opening loss via Casey Schmitt’s grand slam for San Fran, Hernandez was able to go yard.

That alone should provide confidence in this pick, as the former Toronto Blue Jay has the ability to get multiple total bases in a single swing. It also doesn’t hurt that Hernandez is hitting .383 against lefties this season, and more importantly for a total bases prop, has a .809 slugging percentage against such pitchers.

He may not have a huge sample size against Harrison specifically, but he at least has a .333 average is what we have seen against him. Everything above is just a recipe for us locking in the best bet from our Giants vs. Dodgers picks on Teoscar Hernandez over 1.5 total bases (+105).

Giants vs. Dodgers Injury Report & Starting Pitchers

When it comes to Giants vs. Dodgers injury news in LA, it’s all about the pitching staff, which is the case for many teams at this point in the season. We’ve had lifetime Dodger Clayton Kershaw out all year, Shohei Ohtani yet to return to the mound and Tyler Glasnow, Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki and Luis Garcia all find their way on the injured list.

As for Giants vs. Dodgers injury in San Francisco, future Hall-of-Famer Justin Verlander is currently out of the rotation while reliever Jordan Hicks, catcher Patrick Bailey and third baseman Matt Chapman are also banged up. Who we WILL see are the expected Giants vs. Dodgers starters for tonight:
