Diamondbacks vs. Mets Predictions For MLB On MLB Network, 4/30
As both teams look to begin their week on a better foot than this past weekend, a battle of aces WAS set to be on the mound. Arizona’s Corbin Burnes will still be toeing the rubber, but New York has pushed back Kodai Senga’s start, and will be starting Dominican Huascar Brazoban in his place
By no means is this one of the classic divisional rivalries in the MLB, but it’s still one where the Diamondbacks would like to get some revenge - they went just 2-5 against the run line versus the Mets last season. That’s without even mentioning last night, which was lost before some fans even took their seats.
Given that Ketel Marte was the best player against the Mets last year, and usually is for Arizona overall, his current injury puts a damper on things for them. New York has been great this season as well, which of course, plays a major role in terms of where we’re heading for the best bet from our Diamondbacks vs. Mets predictions.
Arizona Diamondbacks: Losing The Battle Of Lefties
After having Monday off while the Mets were in action, it’s clear that the rest advantage for Arizona did not pay dividends. It didn’t take long for that to be proven either, as New York continued where they left off. The Mets scored a whopping 19 runs on Monday and had seven by the end of the third inning last night.
They did so against lefty Eduardo Rodriguez, who seemed to have an unreasonably long leash - he gave up eight runs on nine hits. While Mets lefty David Peterrson, a former reliever, is no ace, his solid five innings were all New York needed for the series-opening win. They’ll be hoping for ace Corbin Burnes to get them back on track to remain above .500.
New York Mets: Partying In The Big Apple
The Mets would be partying even harder if Kodai Senga was getting the start, as he went 2-0 with a 0.64 ERA and strikeout totals of 12 and 10 in his two starts against Arizona, but even still, New York’s offense has been enough to support any starter on the mound. The aforementioned 19 runs fueled by Brandon Nimmo is proof enough.
It was their fourth-most runs in franchise history, and it also made the Mets the first team in the MLB to 20 wins, as they are already looking in firm control of the NL East. Even if Juan Soto just gets walked every game, they have enough firepower with Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso, both of which who have been on fire as of late.

Diamondbacks vs. Mets Best Bet: Corbin Burnes Under 6.5 Strikeouts (-135 At DraftKings Sportsbook)
With New York ace Kodai Senga no longer getting the call, let’s further discuss the other side of the matchup on the mound - Arizona ace Corbin Burnes. The newcomer left Baltimore after a fantastic season with the Orioles (who would love to have him back right about now), but it hasn't been all sunshine in the desert thus far.
The weather may be nice this time of year, but he is just 0-1 with a 4.05 ERA on the season. While that’s far from historically bad, it’s also far from what the Diamondbacks expected from a six-year, $210 million contract. So, we’re actually going to be taking an under for the best bet from our Diamondbacks vs. Mets picks.
There’s some solid value here with oddsmakers clearly liking what they last saw out of Burnes - he went for eight strikeouts against the Tampa Bay Rays in his last start. However, he had just three strikeouts in three straight games prior to that, and as for the Mets, they’ve struck out the fourth-fewest times this season.
Admittedly, Arizona has been just as great at avoiding getting rung up, but with Huascar Brazoban being a big unknown as a starter - a curveball, if you will - we’re not going to put our focus there. Along with how great New York’s Francisco Lindor has been at the plate this year, we’re going to instead focus on their lineup performing.
It may not be the most fun prop to cheer for, but the best bet from our Diamondbacks vs. Mets predictions is on Corbin Burnes under 6.5 strikeouts (-135 at DraftKings Sportsbook).
Diamondbacks vs. Mets Injury Report & Starting Pitchers
As with any matchup in the MLB, there are plenty of guys on the injured list, so it’s more about the ones that are the most notable when it comes to Diamondbacks vs. Mets injury news.
In Arizona, the aforementioned Ketel Marte injury is the most significant (he’ll be on this road trip, however), and they would also love if lefty starter Jordan Montgomery wasn’t on the long 60-day IL. In New York, starters Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas are hands down their biggest concerns.
While it’s not the battle of aces originally scheduled, we’ve still listed out the Diamondbacks vs. Mets starters for today:
- Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher today: Corbin Burnes (0-1, 4.05 ERA)
- New York Mets starting pitcher today: Huascar Brazoban (N/A)
