LPL Tuesday
- (-240) Ultra Prime v Victory 5 (+180)
- (-1000) EDward Gaming v Oh My God (+550)
Tuesday’s LPL features two bottom tier teams facing off in Ultra Prime versus Victory 5, trading strengths across the map: V5 have the stronger mid lane, whereas Ultra Prime’s bottom lane exceeds that of V5’s. The secondary match in EDG vs OMG features a mostly one sided game, with EDG’s stronger top side- but the bottom lane match-up is one to watch for each side.
Captain
Scout ($11,100)
While Creme is a solid middle laner, the consistency offered by Scout isn’t to be underestimated. Alongside the superior jungle match-up in Jiejie versus AKi- the latter jungler being a big weak point on OMG, offers a tremendous advantage towards the EDG top side. Scout has been a great mid laner for years now, and while Creme is part of the new generation, he has some growing up to do before taking the throne from the best.
Alternatives to consider: Jiejie ($10,500)
Top Lane
Flandre ($6,400)
The largest difference between both teams on Tuesday is the top sides, Flandre vs New and Zs vs Alienz/invincible respectively. Flandre is a solid top laner, consistently edging out his lane opponent, whereas New alongside his jungler are more often than not liabilities for OMG, allowing Flandre and Jiejie to score big.
Alternatives to consider: Zs ($6,600)
Jungle
Jiejie ($7,000)
Likewise, the jungler for EDG is likely to gap his opponent on OMG- Jiejie has been on a steady rise since his inception and has proven to be a capable successor to Clearlove. He consistently holds his own in the jungle, scoring solid CS differentials and high KP to boot. Otherwise, his opponent in AKi is weak, and I favor Jiejie in the match-up.
Alternatives to consider: H4cker ($7,200)
Mid Lane
Uniboy ($6,600)
Between Xiaocaobao and Irma, I’d rather just take Uniboy. While he hasn’t been an incredible mid laner in the LPL, he had a great international track record previously, and he has had glimpses of greatness even in the LPL so far. Scout is a great option if he isn’t your captain here, but I just can’t see much upside from the Ultra Prime middle laners.
Alternatives to consider: Scout ($7,400)
ADC
Viper ($7,600)
I’m sick of bringing up EDG’s Viper, he’s the best ADC in the league and drops loads of points every single game. The only issue is he’s up against OMG Able, the superstar of the squad and an absolute animal on the rift. Cold is a great support, but Viper has the edge in Meiko, combined with their strong top side, I narrowly favor EDG against OMG in this match-up.
Alternatives to consider: Smlz ($7,800)
Support
ShiauC ($5,800)
UP’s ShiauC is their other solid player alongside Smlz, and support is a position that I’d consider worth diversifying, especially since you have an Ultra Prime quota to fill. ShiauC isn’t a heavy roamer, but UP should have a strong enough bottom lane to stomp out V5 just off of sheer laning, and ShiauC is a good pick to get a share of those precious points.
Alternatives to consider: Meiko ($6,000)
Team
Ultra Prime ($5,000)
I think this series will easily go to three games, Ultra Prime’s top side is just a complete disaster. ShiauC and Smlz are more than salvageable, but the relative strength of bottom lane as a role right now combined with UP’s gap, it’s easily favored for Ultra Prime. EDG is a solid secondary choice too.
Alternatives to consider: EDward Gaming ($5,200)
Stacks
ShiauC & Smlz
The two best players on Ultra Prime. V5 isn’t that much worse than UP, but the latter have two players in important positions: ShiauC and Smlz are likely to stomp Kelper and Zyf (or Reheal, if they play him).
Flandre & Scout
The solo laners for EDG are a no-brainer, since they’re the weakest role on Ultra Prime, and Flandre in particular targets New, one of the poorer players on OMG. Creme is a star in the making, but Scout should be able to overcome him handedly.
Viper & Meiko
The EDG bottom lane is the strongest in the league- unfortunately, they’re up against one of the better ones in Able and Cold, also- however, Viper’s team fighting power will allow him to pick up massive points without having to crush Able in lane, and likewise with Meiko roaming around the map, picking off the weaker members of OMG.
Top Picks: Viper, Jiejie, Flandre
A full EDG line up crosses top picks, they’re #1 for a good reason, they’re strong across the board, with these players not only targeting the weaknesses on OMG (Jiejie, Flandre), but also containing Viper, the strongest overall ADC in the league.
Top Value: Uniboy, Scout, Flandre
Scout and Uniboy are solid mid laners, despite the latter being on a bottom tier team. Scout is a team player, he uses his push to help assist jungler Jiejie, and it’s this teamwork that I expect to be the downfall of OMG in their match versus EDG, as Creme plays a more lane-focused play style.
