LPL Wednesday
- (-230) Suning Gaming v LNG Esports (+175)
- (-600) FunPlus Phoenix v Oh My God (+375)
Wednesday’s LPL matches features two games that are relatively close- Suning versus LNG favors Suning, although the former team’s extreme amount of volatility and inconsistency makes me favor LNG, alongside their new bottom lane. FunPlus Phoenix should be able to easily defeat Oh My God, even with FPX’s support substitute following Crisp’s health issues.
Captain
Lwx ($11,400)
Favoring LNG gives a massive cash influx, even if you just choose two players from the squad and the team, which is what we are trying to achieve with this slate. Lwx is a great choice into OMG, despite Able’s extremely strong gameplay, Lwx has a more capable jungler who can influence the bottom lane in the favor of FPX, and this rings equally as true with Doinb vs Creme- another great mid laner, but the jungle match-up is vital in this game and will allow FPX’s carries to shine.
Alternatives to consider: Doinb ($11,400)
Top Lane
Nuguri ($6,400)
While Ale has been a constant plus for the side of OMG, you can never bet against world champion Nuguri, especially since he faces off against the worst top laner on Wednesday in New, whereas Ale has to contend with Bin- a worlds finalist in his own right. Both of these top laners agre great, but I find that Nuguri’s amazing match-up is worth the $600 upgrade.
Alternatives to consider: Ale ($5,800)
Jungle
Tian ($7,200)
Likewise, in the jungle, Tian is certain to smash AKi, a relatively mediocre jungler. AKi is capable of knuckling down against other mid tier junglers, but against a high tier jungler, with high tier laners too, AKi is simply outmuscled by the top side of FPX. Tarzan is another amazing secondary option, and the best all around jungler playing on Wednesday, but I do prefer Tian in spite of his massive price hike due to his reliability as a player.
Alternatives to consider: Tarzan ($6,400)
Mid Lane
Doinb ($7,600)
Despite his reputation years ago, Doinb is consistently impressive in regards to his laning. He is one of the highest CS differential average players in the role, and while Creme is a star in the making, he doesn’t have the top side necessary to contest Doinb. The primary reason why I favor Doinb on mid instead of captain is your other mid lane options between Angel and Icon aren’t desirable- Icon is a weakness on LNG, but I still think he’s better than Angel.
Alternatives to consider: Icon ($7,000)
ADC
LP ($7,200)
The bottom lane substitution was surprising from LNG, but it did work out well enough: Light and Iwandy weren’t the weak point of the squad, but in spite of this, LP and Kedaya played admirably and secured the win over OMG, especially since OMG’s bottom lane is considered their star role alongside their mid laner Creme.
Alternatives to consider: Lwx ($7,600)
Support
Kedaya ($5,200)
Furthermore, support Iwandy was actually a great player in his own right, but I was seriously impressed by Kedaya’s play against OMG too. While I will miss Iwandy, I don’t think the team necessarily will as long as Kedaya continues the level he played at versus OMG. The opposing support on Suning in ON has been a weak point for the squad, and an ideal player for Kedaya to exploit.
Alternatives to consider: ShenYi ($5,800)
Team
LNG Esports ($4,600)
Suning is the most inconsistent team in the LPL, and I think a capable, calculated jungler like Tarzan can effectively dismantle the team by utilizing his strong side lanes to his advantage. Otherwise, FPX is objectively the strongest team playing, but the team spots are precious, and better saved for players.
Alternatives to consider: FunPlus Phoenix ($5,200)
Stacks
Nuguri & Tian
The top side of FPX is the strongest stack on Wednesday, squaring up perfectly with the two weakest players on OMG in their top laner New and jungler AKi, two players that have routinely been liabilities for the squad.
Lwx & Doinb
In addition, the carries for FPX are certainly worth your roster too. OMG’s carries are strong to match, but FPX’s are even stronger, and have access to farming OMG’s weak teammates for gold, alongside the geographic advantage- a free quadrant in the OMG top side for jungle camps fit for farming.
LP & Kedaya
LNG’s new bottom lane is respectable to be sure: LP and Kedaya look like a viable alternative to Light and Iwandy, with LP and Kedaya being more active during the laning phase, whereas Light and Iwandy were primarily focused on farming up for the late game teamfights. This activity early game should be useful for breaking down ON, the weakest player on Suning.
Top Picks: Lwx, Nuguri, Doinb
FPX is the strongest team playing on Wednesday, and the top picks reflect that. LWX, Nuguri, and Doinb each occupy the carry role of their lane, and their high resource yield should prove effective in outmuscling the weaker counterparts of OMG throughout the game.
Top Value: Kedaya, LP, Tarzan
On the other hand, I find LNG to be undervalued in comparison to Suning, a team that has shown severe inconsistency, even dropping a decisive set to Rogue Warriors- a bottom tier team. Kedaya and LP have shown to be a strong alternative to Iwandy and Light, and Tarzan is absolutely the strongest jungler in the league, he’s the cornerstone of the squad, definitively.
