LPL Tuesday

  • (-180) Team WE v LGD Gaming (+140)
  • (+185) Bilibili Gaming v JD Gaming (-250)

Tuesday’s LPL slate features two close match-ups between Team WE, and their strong top side, against team LGD,with their superior mid-jungle. The bottom lane of Team WE, however, sets the game in their favor. On the other match-up, BLG hold the stronger bottom lane, but the rest of the top side is firmly in the favor of JD Gaming.

Captain

Kanavi ($10,500)

Money is pretty tight, and slots are tight alongside it. Kanavi’s opponent on Tuesday is Weiwei, a strong jungler to be sure- but Kanavi is one of the best players on JD Gaming, and the rest of their strong players are also favored with Yagao and Zoom being able to come up big. Kanavi is a cheap option that allows you to grab two junglers; not a bad role to double up on. Shanks is another great player, but you’ll likely have to grab a mid laner like Xiye instead of Yagao for your second mid laner.

Alternatives to consider: Shanks ($10,800)

Top Lane

Breathe ($6,600)

Team WE’s top laner has had a few bad games, but generally he performs at a very high level, and his opponent in Garvey is in no way a threat to his dominance in the lane. While LGD’s mid jungle is definitely poses a threat to Breathe in the top lane, his laning power versus LGD’s top laners should secure him a strong position against the duo. JD Gaming’s Zoom is another solid option, and certainly worth considering if you want to mix up your captain slot.

Alternatives to consider: Zoom ($6,200)

Jungle

Beishang ($6,800)

Straight against Shad0w is Beishang, Team WE’s jungler. With Kanavi as captain, you have no choice but to take Beishang- he’s a great player, to be sure, but Team WE in general have had their inconsistencies. The real threat worth avoiding though, in my mind, is Xiye in the middle lane- although Shanks isn’t a bad option either- it’s just LGD’s best player. Beishang should be capable of navigating Shad0w’s aggression well enough, even if he is one of LGD’s stronger players.

Alternatives to consider: Kanavi ($7,000)

Mid Lane

Yagao ($7,600)

Speaking of the middle lane match-up, Zeka is the weakest mid laner on the day by far- he’s just not aggressive enough in the lane, he doesn’t work especially well with either Ppgod or Weiwei, and while he’s serviceable enough, he isn’t strong enough to stand up to Yagao. The JDG mid laner is likely the best mid laner on Tuesday, aside from maybe Xiye if he was placed on a more capable team. Shanks isn’t a terrible option either, but he is against a terrifying opponent.

Alternatives to consider: Shanks ($7,200)

ADC

Elk ($7,600)

Between the two bottom lanes, I’d much rather have Team WE’s. Elk has been more than capable of squashing the inferior bottom lanes of the LPL, and while he doesn’t have the dominance that he has had in the past, he’s still a very strong and capable ADC in his own right- furthermore, Kramer and Mark are the weakest lane playing on Tuesday, with Loken and LvMao being a decent lane- but a weak point on JDG.

Alternatives to consider: Loken ($7,800)

Support

Missing ($5,600)

Although, Missing is definitely a highlight of the lane- he’s extremely good at navigating the map, laning, teamfighting- he’s a complete package. Missing is a high tier support on a relatively mid tier team, even better than a similar support like Cold. JD’s support LvMao was once in contention for “best support in the world” also last year in spring, but his form has regressed over time and he doesn’t hold the same dominance now that his trademark Bard isn’t currently in meta.

Alternatives to consider: LvMao ($5,800)

Team

JD Gaming ($5,200)

Between the two teams, the likelihood of both winning their matches are relatively equal. Although, I do think that if I had to choose one, JD Gaming is definitely the more controlled team, and likewise, so is BLG. Team WE makes things too volatile, and so do LGD- which can both be good, and bad for their odds of taking a clean win against a lower ranked team.

Alternatives to consider: Team WE ($5,000)

Stacks

Beishang & Breathe

The top side of Team WE should be more than able to abuse LGD’s weaker top laner in Garvey. Breathe has been capable of playing against the best the LPL has to offer consistently enough, and Beishang is a resourceful and versatile jungler who should find angles to abuse LGD’s weak point.

Elk & Missing

Speaking of weak points, Mark and Kramer are another sore spot for LGD. Kramer is known for being hot-again-cold-again, and Mark has a propensity to rack up deaths quickly by virtue of his engage support playstyle- ideal for WE’s bottom lane to grab plentiful points.

Kanavi & Yagao

The mid-jungle for JDG- and their top side in general, matches up greatly into BLG, who are primarily known for their outstanding bottom lane. Yagao has consistently been leveling up his play throughout his time on JDG, and Kanavi is the squad’s superstar import, who will surely smash opposing jungler Weiwei.

Top Picks: Kanavi, Elk, Breathe

A mixed bag. Elk is the strongest ADC playing on Tuesday, with Breathe having an outstanding top lane match-up against Garvey. Kanavi should be capable of using his laners’ strengths to capitalize on Weiwei’s jungle.

Top Value: Beishang, Elk, Missing

Likewise, Team WE is much cheaper than JDG despite possessing a superior bottom lane. Alongside Beishang, another strong jungler in conjunction with Kanavi, make sure you pair WE’s strong bottom lane together in order to maximize your points.
