LPL Wednesday
- (+145) Ultra Prime v Oh My God (-185)
- (+550) Rogue Warriors v Suning Gaming (-1000)
Wednesday’s LPL slate features two matches which are actually relatively one sided: UP vs OMG is likely to end decisively in OMG’s favor due to their stronger middle lane and powerful bottom lane- in spite of their disgusting upset against LNG, whereas the bottom placed Rogue Warriors versus the reasonably strong Suning should end decisively in SN’s favor.
Captain
AKi ($10,200)
Truthfully, money is extremely tight on Wednesday, and it’s not worth sacking picks unless you want to pull someone like Smlz alongside Huanfeng in the bottom lane. AKi as your captain lets you choose the best possible players per their respective position- AKi himself isn’t a fantastic choice, but he should be able to generate a good deal of points due to his strong laners, alongside being up against a weaker jungler in H4cker. Your second option is Huanfeng and picking up Smlz on ADC too, which can give you a great captain, but weaker other options on your roster.
Alternatives to consider: Huanfeng ($11,700)
Top Lane
Bin ($6,800)
Most top laners on Wednesday are weak, but Bin is definitely the one with the highest ceiling- performing admirable at worlds last year, furthermore, his opponents in the Rogue Warriors’ two top laners are some of the weakest in the entire LPL. Bin is more than enough to smash them to bits, with New as a decent enough secondary option, but I’d prioritize the $200 upgrade for Bin unless you seriously need the cash.
Alternatives to consider: New ($6,600)
Jungle
SofM ($7,000)
Even without AKi as your captain, I’d consider SofM a pick with prioritizing if possible- Rogue Warriors don’t have good jungle options, and SofM has been one of- if not the, best junglers in the world in the past. He’s consistently a strong player for the squad, and he can cash in big against Rogue Warriors on Wednesday by virtue of his aggressive playstyle.
Alternatives to consider: AKi ($6,800)
Mid Lane
Creme ($7,400)
OMG’s mid laner has been a mainstay on these lists- and the mid laner I usually find myself comparing him to, due to their shared noviceness, is UP’s Xiaocaobao. I find XCB’s performances consistently mediocre, whereas Creme has the potential to ascend to one of the best mid laners in the LPL- if not the world, with a bit more progress. This is a match-up worth looking at, Angel is a decent mid lane option too, but I’d rather have Creme versus XCB/irma than Angel vs Forge.
Alternatives to consider: Angel ($7,600)
ADC
Huanfeng ($7,800)
While neither ADC option is bad between OMG and SN; even UP’s Smlz isn’t horrible, it’s that reason that I prefer Huanfeng, Smlz is no pushover, and ShiauC is a good support too. Its for that reason that I think that a lot of the action of UP vs OMG will be directed towards the top side, particularly mid lane, while Able and Smlz won’t be as impactful as usual due to the fact that they’re both quite good players.
Alternatives to consider: Able ($7,600)
Support
Cold ($5,800)
That being said, I prefer Cold to ON- the SN support is way more inconsistent and he has the propensity to play way more for lane, while Cold is laning-focused also, OMG’s diverse win conditions can also allow him to navigate around the map to help out Creme, which is what I expect will happen in OMG vs UP. OMG will likely attack UP’s weak top side to win, and selecting Cold will grant you a large assist share of this attack. ON is a fine support; but both him and ShiauC have their place in a hypothetical team.
Alternatives to consider: ON ($6,000)
Team
OMG ($5,000)
$400 isn’t worth the upgrade from OMG to SN, even though I think both teams will take their games with relative ease on Wednesday. UP’s mid lane is a massive hole in the roster which Creme can exploit, and Rogue Warriors’ bottom lane- well, everywhere- is just horrendous.
Alternatives to consider: Suning Gaming ($5,400)
Stacks
Bin & Huanfeng
Huanfeng is the primary carry for SN, and Bin is a strong top laner, what these two share is they are substantially better options than the other players they contend with on the day- New and Zs and Able and Smlz are both relatively evenly matched, whereas Bin and Huanfeng are much better than their opponents.
Creme & AKi
The mid jungle of OMG are the biggest gap between them and UP. Both of UP’s mid laners are completely mediocre and near the bottom tier. Creme has what it takes to be the next big thing out of China, and AKi isn’t a bad jungler to pair him with, either.
Able & Cold
The bottom lane for OMG, however, is typically their primary win condition, and could be a decent pick-up despite their hard match-up. OMG has a strong bottom lane, and it’s completely possible they’ll play to it despite their opponent- in any case, Able is a strong value pick if you can’t quite get the money for Huanfeng.
Top Picks: Bin, SofM, Huanfeng
Suning is the best all around team playing on Wednesday. Their players have seen great success in the past, and while some of them aren’t quite performing to expectations currently, they get to face the dead last team in Rogue Warriors. RW doesn’t have much redeeming to them, and these are Suning’s best players.
Top Value: Smlz, Creme, Cold
Likewise though, OMG has the better mid laner and support relative to Suning. All things considered, Smlz and ShiauC are a decent bottom lane if you want to snag a very high value captain too, they’ve shown great promise in the past and are the strongest portion of UP.
