League of Legends LEC DFS Playbook August 27: Top DraftKings LoL DFS Picks
We are nearing the midway point in the Western playoffs with both the LEC and LCS finalizing their upper bracket teams this weekend. All losers from this slate will have another chance to make the finals through a grueling lower backet run. Both matchups are repeats in some fashion from the Spring playoffs with Team Liquid and Misfits looking to rewrite their fortune this time around. Great value can be found across the slate and a very real upset is brewing, so let’s dive in!
League of Legends DFS Slate August 27th, 2022
League of Legends European Championship
League of Legends Championship Series
Summer Split Playoffs
(-117) 100 Thieves v Team Liquid (-115)
(-500) G2 Esports v Misfits (+330)
Fantasy Value Breakdown
Series #1: G2 Esports v Misfits
SeriesBreakdown: Of all upper bracket matches across the globe, this may be the most one sided. Misfits showed us some growth from the beginning of the Summer Split but you won’t find an LEC expert that would give Misfits more than a single win in this series and for good reason. The quality across this lineup just doesn’t compare to that of G2. G2 has a lineup that has actually competed against the best in the world (taking games off of T1 Esports and Royal Never Give Up) while Misfits went through the Spring Playoffs with only one win and lost to this same G2 lineup in a fast 0-3 fashion. BrokenBlade and Caps should be pretty strong moving into mid game fights and the gap between Flakked and Neon should prove to be the deciding factor on Saturday.
Favorite Picks: Flakked (G2: $11,400/$7,600), BrokenBlade (G2: $6,600), Jankos (G2: $7,000)
Value Picks: Vetheo (MSF: $6,800), Mersa (MSF: $5,200)
Cann’s Match Pick: G2 Esports (3-0)
Series #2: 100 Thieves v Team Liquid
Series Breakdown: You can call me out for my fan bias here but this series has the makeup of being an upset. Team Liquid had 100 Thieves one loss away from the lower bracket and Team Liquid punching their ticket to the Spring Finals. Team Liquid has struggled with their identity throughout the course of this year and many of those problems stemmed from that series loss. Lately, TL has leveraged the strengths in the top half of the map (Bwipo, Santorin, and Bjergsen) and been more willing to let their bottom lane quietly play out the early game. There isn’t a better early game team in the LCS and historically (including their final matchup in week 10) 100 Thieves have fallen behind at that time. Team Liquid will have moments where they struggle to close out games in this series, so I fully expect FBI and Abbedagge to have their moments to shine but I think the veterans pull it off where it counts.
Favorite Picks: Abbedagge (100: $7,200), huhi (100: $5,600), 100 Thieves ($5,000)
Value Picks: Hans Sama (TL: $10,800/$7,200), Bwipo (TL: $6,000), Santorin (TL: $6,600),
Cann’s Match Pick: Team Liquid (3-2)
