We are in the final matches of the Summer Split playoffs and the pressure has been turned all the way up! A loss for these teams not only being bounced from the domestic playoffs but also losing their chance to go to the World Championship this fall. Team Liquid has the weight of North America on their shoulders because of the star-studded nature of their roster. CLG is on the opposite end of the spectrum, riding the high of slingshotting themselves from the bottom of the league to near the top. Who will win out? Veteran experience or youthful passion? Let’s dive in and see!

Fantasy Value Breakdown

Game #1:  Counter Logic Gaming v Team Liquid

Cann’s Pick: Team Liquid (3-1)

Captain

Favorite: Bjergsen (TL: $15,900) Bjergsen is the backbone of this team and he will need to be the catalyst of the TL run. When we have seen TL perform, it is when Bjerg has been able to play with agency and be on a champion who can make game-changing plays. He seemed asleep for the first two games of their series loss to 100 Thieves and caught a spark when TL put him on his signature Zilean pick in game 3. Team Liquid needs to do a better job of starting hot and staying hot if they want to make it to finals weekend in Chicago, and that starts against Palafox today.

Value Pick: Hans sama (TL: $16,500)

Captain

Favorite: Luger (CLG: $15,300) CLG has found ways to adapt their playstyle but it seems like they continue to return to what is comfortable. Comfort for them remains to play through their bottom lane and putting pressure on teams in the late-game team fights. This will be an opening for Counter Logic Gaming if they can weather the early game pressure TL will bring at them. The other benefit for CLG will be how much Liquid has struggled to be consistent in the bottom lane. The Hans sama/CoreJJ experiment doesn’t seem to be working and the Luger/poome duo seem to be very cohesive. Something to watch throughout the series.

Value Pick: Palafox (CLG: $14,400)

Flex

Favorite: Santorin (TL: $9,200) I enjoy watching Santorin play out the early game and how much he can influence the map. He is creative in his routes across the map, which forces teams into making really bad decisions. I am looking for Santorin to limit the playmaking of Contractz (CLG jungler) and bring a steady hand to the mid-game. He has to be able to control and shot-call late-game team fights for TL to not only win today but hopefully win the Championship on the 11th.

Value Pick: Bwipo (TL: $9,400)

Flex

Favorite: Palafox (CLG: $9,600) Going against Bjergsen is no small feat and this will be a challenging task for Palafox. What I like about this pick is Palafox’s ability to force enemy carriers to make hard decisions in late-game fights. His knack for a more assassin-like playstyle lends itself to explosive plays and more importantly, higher point totals. He is solid on control mages as well but CLG will get more out of him against TL if they unlock his playmaking ability. If Palafox can get out of lane early and roam the map, TL could be in trouble.

Value Pick: Contractz (CLG: $8,800)
