Fantasy Value Breakdown

Game #1: MAD Lions v Istanbul Wildcats

Game Breakdown: There is no reason for this match to be close. The Turkish representatives in IW have a history of some international success but they suffer the same issues as all decent Wild Card region teams struggle with, their best players get poached quickly. IW will have an edge in the top lane (StarScreen versus MAD’s Armut) and their jungler (Ferret) has shown promise in past international tournaments. This will really be decided by the mid lane control by MAD’s mid laner (Nisqy) and how much of a skill gap there is in the bottom lane with Unf0rgiven/Kaiser for the MAD Lions.

Favorite Picks: Nisqy (MAD: $12,000/$8,000), Unf0rgiven (MAD: $12,000/$8,000), MAD Lions ($5,200)

Value Picks: StarScreen (IW: $5,000), Ferret (IW: $6,200)

Cann’s Match Pick: MAD Lions

Game #2: Fnatic v Chiefs Esports Club

Game Breakdown: It is really important to note that due to COVID, FNC is having to come into this tournament with substitutes and this could have huge implications on whether or not this team makes it out of groups. They are playing into an Oceanic squad which brings a lot of challenges. OCE teams tend to lean heavily into a more scrap heavy playstyle, which could be really difficult coming into this weekend of play with up to 40% of the roster being new. Look out for this being a place where an upset takes place.

Favorite Picks: Humanoid (FNC: $11,400/$7,600), Wunder (FNC: $6,400), Razork (FNC: $6,800)

Value Picks: Raes (CHF: $6,800), Aladoric (CHF: $4,600)

Cann’s Match Pick: Fnatic

Game #3: Detonation FocusMe v Loud

Game Breakdown: I am not sure why DFM is listed as the heavy favorite here. I have to expect that the FNC subs have watered them down enough that on paper DFM seems like the second strongest team on the slate. Don’t be fooled here though, Loud will make this a very close game. I think DFM will need to rely heavily on their star ADC (Yutapon) but I think the pressure that LLL’s mid laner (tinowns) will create will be too much. He has a pretty successful domestic career and made his stamp on the game at the 2021 MSI tournament, where he had a respectable 3.33 KDA and led his team to a 2-4 record in the round robin phase.

Favorite Picks: Yutapon (DFM: $11,700/$7,400), Evi (DFM: $6,2000)

Value Picks: tinowns (LLL: $10,800/$7,200), Brance (LLL: $7,400), LOUD ($4,600)

Cann’s Match Pick: Loud
