The first slate in Sunday brings us a wide range of LPL and LCK play. There are a few matches where there are real chances for upsets and opportunities for you to capitalize on cheaper players who could make a big splash. Let’s dive in!

(-220) Rare Atom v Team WE (+165)

(+355) Ultra Prime v Royal Never Give Up (-525)

(-450) Damwon Gaming v Nongshim RedForce (+320)

(-250) KT Rolster v Hanwha Life Esports (+185)

Series #1: Rare Atom v Team WE

Series Breakdown: On paper, Rare Atom should be a clear favorite. Higher production out of their players, a 4-9 game record versus a 1-8 record from WE, and an actual series win under their belt. All of that being said, this is a series where picking underdogs may be a smart idea. The top half of the map for WE (Biubiu, beishang, and Shanks) have all shown glimpses of top tier skill and can flip a map. Rare Atom works through the pace of their mid-laner, Strive. Strive doesn’t lose lane often and RA uses that consistency to invest into the side lanes. How both teams play through the top half of the map will dictate the series.

Favorite Picks: Strive (RA: $11,100/$7,400), Cube (RA: $6,000), Leyan (RA: $6,400)

Value Picks: Biubiu (WE: $5,600), beishang (WE: $6,200)

Cann’s Match Pick: Team WE (2-1)

Series #2: Ultra Prime v Royal Never Give Up

Series Breakdown: This RNG has a wealth of experience playing together. Outside of their newest addition in the top lane (Breathe) this squad has won two MSI Championships and gone to a World Championship event together. Ultra Prime has some quality pieces with Cryin (mid) and Elk (ADC) but the lack of team cohesion is where we see UP fall short. They are gun-shy at times where the team should be totally committed to a play and in those moments they lose games. By the end of this split, UP could be in a position to make a playoff run but Sunday should belong to RNG.

Favorite Picks: Gala (RNG: $12,000/$8,000), Xiaohu (RNG: $7,800), Ming (RNG: $6,000)

Value Picks:H4cker (UP: $5,800), Cryin (UP: $6,600), Zoom (UP: $5,400)

Cann’s Match Pick: Royal Never Give Up (2-0)

Series #3: Damwon Gaming v Nongshim RedForce

Series Breakdown: if you took the names off of both of these teams and their players most people would expect this to be a very close series. Both teams have a mid laner who excels at wave management and team fight utility. Both teams have explosive bot lanes that, when given resources and protection, can carry their team with outplays and intelligent positioning. Both teams have top laners that could play champions that secure side-lane pressure or tanks that lead the charge in fights. It is only when you add the name “Damwon” and players on that team instantly are heavily valued. Beware diving too deep into the DWG lineup and overpay for average points.

Favorite Picks: deokdam (DK: $11,700/$7,800), Canyon (DK: $7,000), Kellin (DK: $5,600)

Value Picks: Bdd (NS: $6,200), Canna (NS: $5,800), Nongshim RedForce ($4,600)

Cann’s Match Pick: Damwon Gaming (2-1)

Series #4: KT Rolster v Hanwha Life Esports

Series Breakdown: it is sometimes hard to breakdown the middle-of-the-pack LCK teams. They recycle players between each other, copy each other’s strategies, and hire coaches that were fired by rivals days previous. KT will focus on one player in particular, Aiming. Their ADC is the core to both their draft strategy and normally needs to be the player who has to have a good game to ensure the team wins. HLE will play more as a team with no one standout player that takes control. This helps them spread resources and be less likely “banned out” during the draft phase. Their downfall really takes place when multiple players fall behind in game. If everyone takes an equal share of the “carry” responsibilities, falling behind has a bigger impact on the game state.

Favorite Picks: Aiming (KT: $7,600), Life (KT: $5,400), KT Rolster ($5,400)

Value Picks: DuDu (HLE: $5,200), Karis (HLE: $6,400)

Cann’s Match Pick: KT Rolster (2-0)
