Another Monday, another light slate for League of Legends. We only get four total teams so picking winners becomes even more important here when winning your lobby. Some fun players to watch out for on the slate and some shocking teams who have really reinvented themselves for this split. Don’t get too sucked into comparing overall records or the names of players that you see on the slate because you’ll win this slate by understanding the breakdowns and that is why you are here! So let’s find the advantages, pick the best players, and see some green on Monday! Let’s dive in!
League of Legends Pro League
Summer Split
July 11th, 2022
(-600) JD Gaming v Rare Atom (+385)
(+120) FunPlus Phoenix v LNG Esports (-155)
Fantasy Value Breakdown
Series #1: JD Gaming v Rare Atom
Series Breakdown: this should be as close to a slam dunk as humanly possible. JDG is at a 7-1 series record and has only dropped 7 games all split. Rare Atom has only won 6 total games and their carries (iBoy and Strive) are just lackluster at best. Teams have admittedly found ways to slow down JDG’s devastating bottom lane of Hope/Missing by sending more resources down there but we still see Hope as the 4th highest ADC in terms of kills (94) and at a near 30% team kill share rate. JD should win this series and win it convincingly.
Favorite Picks: Hope (JDGL $11,700/$7,800), Yagao (JDG: $7,400), Kanavi (JDG: $7,000), JD Gaming ($5,400)
Value Picks: iBoy (RA: $6,000), Cube (RA: $5,600)
Cann’s Match Pick: JD Gaming (2-0)
Series #2: FunPlus Phoenix v LNG Esports
Series Breakdown: LNG is currently ranked 4th in the LPL while FPX is in 11th. Yet when we look at the odds this is little more than a coin toss? Yes and I 100% agree with odd makers on this matchup. LNG is excellent at picking up wins against bad teams, mainly because they aren’t punished for over-relying on Light (5.5 KDA and 35% team kill percentage rate). What have we seen out of the new FPX? The ability to change their win condition based on matchup because they brought in Korean superstar, Summit, to the top lane. One of FPX’s biggest strengths now is rotating to mid-game fights which LNG hate doing because they are wanting to get as much gold into Light as possible. In a close series I see FPX forcing LNG into unfavorable fights and turning games on their head.
Favorite Picks: Light (LNG: $11,400/$7,600), Tarzan (LNG: $6,600), Iwandy (LNG: $5,600)
Value Picks: Care (FPX: $6,800), Summit (FPX: $6,000), FunPlus Phoenix ($4,800)
Cann’s Match Pick: FunPlus Phoenix (2-1)
