League of Legends DFS Showdown Slate

August 23rd, 2022 / Summer Split Upper Bracket Playoffs

Our first upper bracket series concluded with TOP Esports taking down EDG in 5 games. It was put on display just how good these top tier LPL teams are and how close these series really are. On Tuesday we get the second half of the matches take place with JD Gaming squaring off against the surging LNG Esports. JDG has been the vision of stability but generally don’t have a second gear while LNG has had very high peaks coupled with just as low valleys in their play. Tuesday is a measurement of which approach is better, consistent team play or higher individual potential. Let’s dive in!

Matchup:

  • (-190) JD Gaming v LNG Esports (+139)

League of Legends DFS Fantasy Breakdown

JDG Captain

Favorite: Hope (JDG: $16,800) I love Hope in the Captain slot for JDG. He has the highest kill total from the Summer split of all players on the slate (206) and he is an absolute game changer in the later stages of the game. JDG are also going to put in serious resources into winning this bottom lane. JDG will stack early waves to set up dives against LNG, watch for Hope to get involved early in this series.

Value Pick: Kanavi (JDG: $13,800)

LNG Esports Captain

Favorite: Light (LNG: $16,200) I would argue that while Light was quieter in their last series overall, he continues to be the most influential player on LNG. There is no players on LNG who can take advantage of a lead better than Light and that will be crucial for LNG carrying on this run. He has a 38% team kill share percentage and that is just too high to let pass by when making your showdown lineup.

Value Pick: Tarzan (LNG: $13,200)

JDG Flex

Favorite: Kanavi (JDG: $9,200) This is the sneaky must grab on this slate. I would argue that Kanavi is the most impactful jungler in the world and one of the biggest reasons JDG picked up the second seed for Summer. What Kanavi does better than anyone else is his balancing of aggressive versus team focused playstyles while in game. You watch him rotate around the map and the enemy has to respond to him or lose out on massive amounts of gold/pressure. Tarzan relies too heavily on individual skill in small fights and I think will be pulled around the map by Kanavi.

Value Pick: 369 (EDG: $8,400)

LNG Esports Flex

Favorite: Ale (LNG: $8,000) I don’t love picking against JDG’s 369 but this pick saves us money for more impactful players and gives us access to a player who does have the ability to take over games in the laning phase. He is one of the best when generating solo kills and catching his lane opponent in bad back timing windows. These approaches could pick up some early leads for him against 369 and give him a chance to have an impact in late game fights.

Value Pick: LNG Esports ($6,000)
