Some early league-defining wins took place on Friday and a few teams have taken some serious steps in the right direction. The MAD Lions and Astralis, both teams who missed out on the playoffs, are poised at the top of the table with a 3-1 record through the first four games. Teams like Rogue and SK Gaming have high aspirations but have struggled to get off the ground. I am expecting some huge points out of players like caPs, Upset, and Elyoya on Saturday. There are plenty of places to spend big or save on a steal. Let’s dive in!

League of Legends DFS Fantasy Breakdown

Game #1: SK Gaming v Misfits Gaming

Game Breakdown: on the surface, there is really not much to be hopeful in terms of this Misfits squad. They have been handled fairly easily in their first matches but there is hope for Saturday. SK Gaming, after a strong Spring Split, have taken a huge step back in terms of macro gameplay execution. The problem with MSF is not the late game teamfight execution but the fact they tend to be so far behind once they get to those fights. SK won’t build the same early game advantages so look for this to be the first win for MSF.

Favorite Picks: Vetheo (MSF: $11,100/$7,400), Mersa (MSF: $5,400)

Value Picks: JNX (SK: $5,800), Gilius (SK: $600)

Cann’s Match Pick: Misfits Gaming

Game #2: MAD Lions v Excel Gaming

Game Breakdown: A lot of hype is building around this MAD Lions squad, and rightfully so. The difference in this matchup for me is how well XL builds leads the early game. Small advantages, taking good trades/smart rotations/solid vision, are better than gambling in big fights because you have more control on the outcomes. MAD will pose a tough opponent but I think XL has the macro play to compete.

Favorite Picks: Unforgiven (MAD: $11,400/$7,600), Nisqy (MAD: $7,000), Elyoya (MAD: $7,400)

Value Picks: Patrik (XL: $6,800), Excel Esports ($4,400), Finn (XL: $5,600)

Cann’s Match Pick: Excel Gaming

Game #3: Rogue v Astralis

Game Breakdown: I am not as high on Astralis as most, but if you’re looking for a flashy dog to steal a win, Astralis is as good as any. Kobbe is playing at a super high level and the addition of Xerxe has changed how Astralis play out the mid game. Rogue really needs their mid-laner (Larssen) to perform at a higher level than he has been. He is a core piece to their win condition but he hasn’t. Superstars need to perform at superstar levels to win championships.

Favorite Picks: Odoamne (RGE: $6,600). Larssen (RGE: $7,800), Comp (RGE: $7.800)

Value Picks: Xerxe (AST: $5,800), Jeonghoon (AST: $4, 600)

Cann’s Match Pick: Rogue

Game #4: Team BDS v Fnatic

Game Breakdown: There is a real chance that Team BDS end the split with less than 3 wins. They lack a team identity and you see that with their chaotic drafts. Fanatic have dropped some matches they believed they were favorites to win, which usually translates to them taking that frustration out on a bad team. Huge value for FNC players, even with the high price tags.

Favorite Picks: Humanoid (FNC: $7,600), Upset (FNC: $12,000/$8,000), Hylissang (FNC: $6,200)

Value Picks: Agresivoo (BDS: $5,000), Erdote (BDS: $4,400)

Cann’s Match Pick: Fnatic

Game #5: Team Vitality v G2 Esports

Game Breakdown: On paper, the two lineups should make you feel like this is the game of the week but this most likely won’t be close. I am almost ready to call this Vitality team broken and a failed experiment. These top tier players are gelling and it is clear that this roster will be blown up at the end of the split. The G2 mid (caPs) is leading the league in kills and he looks to have reached his former heights. This is not good news for VIT or the rest of the league at this point.

Favorite Picks: Flaked (G2: $11,100/$7,4000), Caps (G2: $7,200), BrokenBlade (G2: $6,800)

Value Picks: Perkz (VIT: $6,200), Team Vitality ($4,200)

Cann’s Match Pick:  G2 Esports
