We’re in the twilight of the Summer Split and we still have a tight race for the top 8 spots in the LCS. The top eight get into the Summer Split Playoffs and get the opportunity to not only hoist the trophy for being LCS Champion but also fight for a spot in the World Championship. Right now the Evil Geniuses sit atop of the table but they are coming off a loss to the second place team in 100 Thieves. FlyQuest and Team Liquid sit knotted at seven wins in third place and Cloud9 and CLG round out the top six. This slate has the opportunity to create shifts within the standings and give us a clearer picture of who will be fighting this fall and who will see their season end in three weeks time. Let’s dive in!

Game #1: FlyQuest (+125) v Cloud9 (-165)

Game Breakdown: I am curious why there is such an emphasis on this Cloud9 team. Do they look better with this new roster? Yes, they do. Are they performing at the level everyone thought they would with the new roster? Not even close. The bottom lane of Berserker/Zven specifically has struggled and haven’t picked up the kills/leads in the early lane as expected. Watch for FlyQuest to slow down the game and grind out this more explosive C9 side. Jensen and toucouille have had very similar splits and I think that will give the FLY mid laner the confidence to play his aggressive playstyle that he naturally has.

Favorite Picks: Berserker (C9: $7,200), Jensen (C9: $7,000), Fudge (C9: $6,200)

Value Picks: Johnsun (FLY: $10,200/$6,800), Aphromoo (FLY: $4,800), FlyQuest ($4,400)

Cann’s Match Pick: FlyQuest

Game #2: Dignitas (+325) v 100 Thieves (-600)

Game Breakdown: I would visualize this as one of the games that 100 Thieves (and more specifically FBI) racks up massive kill numbers. 100 Thieves love racking up huge stat lines against bad teams, playing a way more aggressive playstyle than they do against top teams. This shift in playstyle has bit them in the behind before whien the drop games they shouldn’t. But in terms of fantasy play, this is when we see the best output from Abbedagge and FBI.

Favorite Picks: FBI (100: $11,700/$7,800) Abbedagge (100: $11,100/$7,400), Ssumday (100: $7,000)

Value Picks: Biofrost (DIG: $4,400)

Cann’s Match Pick: 100 Thieves

Game #3: Team Solomid (+315) v Team Liquid (-475)

Game Breakdown: There is a chance for TSM to win this game but I am not sold on TSM’s approach to the game. They are making yet another roster swap, which gives me the indication that Bwipo could have a massive day today. TSM is coming off of a loss to Immortals last Sunday and it came off of repeated ugly mistakes by the young team. I am losing faith in TL on the other hand because of their apathy in game. Bjergsen and Santorin are the only consistent players on this team but they both have more of a facilitator playstyle. Hans sama has had some really ugly deaths over the last month and a half and his low pricetag is a reflection of that. This is a buyer beware notice on TL but they should win pretty comfortably today.

Favorite Picks: Bwipo (TL: $6,600), Bjergsen (TL: $11,700/$7,800), Hans sama (TL: $7,600)

Value Picks: Spica (TSM: $6,000), Team Solomid ($4,000)

Cann’s Match Pick: Team Liquid

Game #4: Golden Guardians (+110) v Counter Logic Gaming (-145)

Game Breakdown: My pick for the “upset” today is more of a reflection of how much CLG has messed with bettors heads this split. Golden Guardians have a real veteran presence on this team (licorice and Stixxay) and that should be a huge determining factor in how this game plays out. This game will be decided in draft though and more specifically on whether or not Luger gets on a carry pick and can determine his own fate with a playmaking champion. We have seen him struggle on picks that forces CLG split resources and attention across the team.

Favorite Picks: Luger (CLG: $11,100/$7,400), Poome (CLG: $5,600)

Value Picks: Stixxay (GG: $7,000), Licorice (GG: $5,800), Contractz (CLG: $6,200),

Cann’s Match Pick: Golden Guardians

Game #5: Evil Geniuses (-500) v Immortals (+350)

Game Breakdown: About as open and shut of a game on the slate as possible. I appreciate the shift in ideology for Immortals, simple play lines and increase proactivity in the early game. Immortats struggled early in the split by being passengers in most of their matches. They weren’t creating plays but rather victims of being pulled around the map. While they have moved away from this, they are playing EG on Saturday. EG are the best at forcing fights, having creative drafts, and capitalizing on the smallest of opponent errors. EG wil force Immortals into positions where they have to react rather than prep and this will spell doom for this patchwork roster.

Favorite Picks: Danny (EG: $12,000/$8,000), Impact (EG: $6,800), Inspired (EG: $7,600)

Value Picks:

Cann’s Match Pick: Evil Geniuses
